AI cover letter generator from your resume

Resumity's cover letter generator writes a first draft from the resume you already have in the editor and the job you are applying for. You pick a tone (professional, conversational or bold), read the letter, and download it as a Word file. It needs a free account. Each letter uses 3 AI credits, and the free plan includes 20 credits a month.

What it does

  • It starts from your resume. The letter is written from the resume version open in the editor, so the achievements it can use are the ones on that resume.
  • It uses the job you add. If you have pasted a job description under "Target job & actions", the generator uses it. On a tailored version, it also uses the role and company you entered for that version; on your main resume, it uses the resume's name as the role. With no job description, it writes for a general position in that role.
  • You choose the tone. Each tone is one instruction to the AI model:
ToneWhat the model is told
Professional"Use a formal, polished tone suitable for corporate environments."
Conversational"Use a warm, natural tone that feels genuine and approachable."
Bold"Use a confident, direct tone that stands out and shows personality."

The model is also told to keep the letter under 300 words in three short paragraphs, connect two or three achievements from your resume to the job's requirements, name the company, avoid filler such as "I am writing to apply for", not repeat the resume word for word, and end with a call to action. These are instructions, not guarantees, so read the result.

The letter appears on screen. Export DOCX downloads a Word file with your name, a contact line (email, phone and location from your resume), today's date, the letter, and "Sincerely," with your name. Regenerate writes a new letter.

How to use it

  1. Sign in and open a resume. Import a PDF (3 credits) or type your resume into the editor (free).
  2. Add the job. Open "Target job & actions" and paste the job description, or extract it from the job's web address (1 credit). For the role and company to appear by name, work on a tailored version of your resume (tailoring uses 5 credits; the free plan includes 1 tailored version).
  3. Open the generator. Click Controls, open the Export section and choose "Generate Cover Letter".
  4. Pick a tone and generate. Professional is selected by default. Generating uses 3 credits.
  5. Read, then export. Check every claim, then click Export DOCX, or copy the text. Regenerating, in the same or another tone, uses another 3 credits.

Sample letter

Written by us for a fictional candidate, to show the structure the generator is told to follow: three short paragraphs, under 300 words, two achievements from the resume, the company named. It is not output from the tool, and your letter will differ. The detail about the company comes from the fictional job description, which is where yours should come from too.

Sample: fictional candidate and company, professional tone
Dear Hiring Manager,

Example Logistics is moving its warehouse operations onto one planning system this year, and the Senior Business Analyst role sits in the middle of that change. For the last four years I have done this kind of work: turning messy operational data into requirements that engineers can build and managers can trust.

At Example Retail Pvt. Ltd., I wrote the requirements for a returns-tracking module and worked with six developers to ship it in two releases. I also rebuilt the weekly inventory report in SQL and Power BI, cutting its preparation from a day and a half to two hours. Both projects meant sitting with warehouse supervisors to see how the work actually happens, which is the part of the job I enjoy most.

I would like to bring that approach to your planning rollout, starting with the requirements and data-migration work your job description mentions. I am happy to talk at a time that suits you.

The Word export adds "Sincerely," and your name below the letter.

Check these before you send it

  • Anything about the company. The model only has your resume and the job description, but it is asked to mention something specific about the company. If the letter says something about the company that isn't in the job description, check it or delete it.
  • Your own numbers. Every figure should match your resume and be something you can explain in an interview.
  • The greeting and date. Add a greeting in Word if the letter doesn't start with one. The date is written US-style (for example, October 12, 2026); change it if you prefer 12 October 2026.

Cost and limits

  • A free account is needed: the generator is part of the resume editor.
  • Each letter uses 3 AI credits, including each regeneration. The free plan tops up to 20 credits every 30 days (unused credits don't stack), which covers 6 letters a month if you spend credits on nothing else.
  • For more: Pro is ₹499 a month with 200 credits, or a credit pack is ₹149 for 50 credits. Payment is in Indian rupees through Razorpay (UPI and Indian cards); international card checkout is not available yet. See Resumity facts.
  • If generation fails or comes back empty, the credits are refunded automatically.
  • Letters are not saved to your account. Download the Word file or copy the text before you leave the editor.
  • Your resume details and the job description are sent to the AI model provider to write the letter.
