Put your certification after your name ("Tasha Greene, CPT") and again in a Certifications section with the issuing body. The Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that some employers prefer certified phlebotomists, and that states may require an accredited training program, a license or certification.
State rules are the detail that trips people up. California, for example, requires its own state phlebotomy certificate on top of a national exam. If you are moving states, check with that state licensing agency and say on the resume whether you already hold the credential or have applied.

Lab managers read for volume and range. The most believable numbers come from your normal shift: draws per shift, patients per day at a service center, the populations you draw and the specimen types you handle.

Mistakes to avoid on a phlebotomist resume
- Hiding the certification. If CPT or PBT appears only at the bottom, a lab screening for certified staff may skip you.
- Unverifiable success rates. "99% first-stick success" invites a question you cannot answer if your lab never measured it.
- No setting or volume. "Drew blood from patients" could mean 5 a day or 60. Give the number and the setting.
