Resume template for coding bootcamp graduates

Short answer

FAANGPath fits a coding bootcamp graduate: it prints your languages and frameworks before any job, then experience, then the apps you built, with the bootcamp certificate in education. The fictional sample spent six years managing a restaurant, finished a 16-week full-stack program in 2026 and has since built two paid client sites. The old career stays on the page, cut to two bullets.

Why FAANGPath suits a coding bootcamp resume

FAANGPath is the template for technical candidates who want their stack read first: skills print above experience and projects print above education, so React, Node and PostgreSQL appear before the restaurant years and the two apps sit above the bootcamp entry. Its centred black and grey layout with full-width rules keeps attention on the code.

Second choice: Meridian. Meridian prints sections in the same order with no colour; it is the steadier pick if you are aiming at IT support or analyst roles rather than engineering.

What goes in each section, in FAANGPath's order

FAANGPath prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. Name the stack you trained on, the length of the bootcamp and what you have shipped since. One clause about your earlier career helps when it connects to the job, such as restaurant operations for a company that sells software to restaurants.
  2. Skills. Languages, frameworks, databases and tooling in separate labelled rows. List only what your projects use; an interviewer will pick a skill from this list and ask you to walk through code that uses it.
  3. Work Experience. Paid development work, even short freelance contracts, goes first. The earlier career follows with two bullets that show something a team values: running a schedule, training staff, handling money.
  4. Projects. For most bootcamp graduates this section carries the page. For each app give the stack, where the code lives, what you built yourself in a team project and one sign of engineering judgment, such as tests or a performance fix.
  5. Education. The bootcamp gets its own entry: program title, provider, start and finish months, with the hours and main topics in the detail line. A previous degree sits below it on one line.

How to make the sample yours

Lead with a project you scoped yourself

Many cohorts build the same practice apps. Put first the project you designed, ideally one with a real user, and move tutorial builds lower or off the page.

Link code you would happily walk through

Put your GitHub in the header next to LinkedIn and pin the two repositories this page mentions, each with a README that explains how to run it.

Describe the bootcamp plainly

Use "Certificate" or the provider's own wording, the program title and the dates. Do not call it a degree, and leave marketing words such as "elite" or "top-ranked" off the page.

Give freelance work real scope

Name the client type, what you delivered and whether it is live. Two small paid sites prove you can work to a brief and a deadline, which coursework cannot show.

Reorder the stack for each posting

Move the posting's language and framework to the front of each row. If a job asks for a tool you touched in one exercise, leave it out rather than stretch.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

  • JavaScript
  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Node.js
  • Express
  • PostgreSQL
  • REST APIs
  • Git
  • unit testing
  • responsive design
  • full-stack development
  • deployment
  • code review
  • Agile

Mistakes to avoid

  • Listing every technology a lecture mentioned. Keep the ones your projects actually use.
  • Projects with no link, or group builds with no word on which part was yours.
  • Dropping the previous career entirely. A blank stretch before the bootcamp raises more questions than two short bullets about running a restaurant.
  • A "senior engineer" headline with no paid development history. "Full-stack developer" is accurate and enough.

How the sample PDF reads in text extractors

We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.

Frequently asked questions

How do I list a coding bootcamp on my resume?

In education, as its own entry: the program title, the provider, the city or "Online", the start and end months and the hours or core topics. Write "Certificate" if that is what you received.

Should I include my previous career on a developer resume?

Yes, briefly. Two bullets per job keep your timeline complete and show work habits; the technical evidence comes from your projects and any paid development work.

How many projects should a bootcamp graduate show?

Two or three you can explain in depth. One project you designed yourself counts for more than several tutorial builds.

Does freelance work count as experience after a bootcamp?

If clients paid you and the work is real, yes. List it as self-employed with the dates, the client types and what you delivered.

Where should my GitHub link go?

In the header with LinkedIn, and again in the description of each project that has a public repository.

Will applicant tracking systems read this FAANGPath PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 10 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
