CV template for Ireland (Irish CV format)
Short answer
Meridian suits an Irish CV: grey rules and no colour, no photo, and a referees list at the foot of the page. EURES, the EU job mobility portal, says a CV in Ireland should be one to two pages; a careers checklist from South East Technological University adds no date of birth, no signature and two referees. The fictional sample is a data analyst in Cork, two years after graduating.

Why Meridian suits an Ireland resume
Meridian is black and grey with thin rules and no shading, close to SETU's checklist advice to avoid colours other than division lines, along with tables, photos and borders. Skills print above experience, so SQL, Python and Power BI are read before the jobs.
Second choice: Henrietta. Henrietta moves education up to sit straight after work experience; pick it if your degree and its classification are your strongest point.
What goes in each section, in Meridian's order
Meridian prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. SETU suggests a profile of no more than three sentences on your current situation, your career plans and the job in front of you. If a visa applies to you, SETU says to state your visa status; a clause here covers it.
- Skills. SETU asks you to show the level of a skill ("proficient in", "fluent in"), so give one for each language and key tool. EURES notes language skills matter especially if English is not your first language.
- Work Experience. Most recent job first, as EURES and SETU both advise, with start and end dates and the employer named. EURES counts volunteering as experience, so a long-running volunteer role can sit here.
- Education. Full award title, the institution's full name, and start and end dates for each. SETU suggests including the degree classification (for example 2:1) if it is good, and summarising qualifications from before the degree.
- Referees. SETU's checklist asks for two referees, one academic and one from work, with job titles and contact details, and expects you to have asked them and sent them your CV and the job specification.

How to make the sample yours
Drop the heading, the birth date and the signature
SETU says not to head the page "Curriculum Vitae", not to give date of birth, marital status, nationality or gender, and not to sign the CV, because it is not a legal document. Your name in bold at the top is the title.
Add a driving licence line if the job needs one
SETU lists driving licence status (if required), availability for placements and visa status (if applicable) as personal details worth including. Put them under your name or in the profile.
Keep to two pages
EURES gives one to two pages; SETU sets a ceiling of two or two and a half. Two years of experience fits comfortably on one full page and a short second.
Photo only when a form asks
EURES notes that a photograph is needed only when an application form requests one. Resumity templates print none, which suits most Irish applications as they stand.
Mirror the job specification
SETU asks whether you have reused the language of the job specification. If the advert says "data visualisation" and "stakeholder reporting", use those exact phrases where they are true.
Keywords to keep where they are true
Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

Mistakes to avoid
- Heading the page "Curriculum Vitae"; SETU says your name is the heading.
- Signing and dating the CV, which SETU's checklist says not to do.
- Carrying a photo, date of birth or nationality over from another country's format.
- Listing referees without asking them, or with no work referee once you have held a job.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a CV be in Ireland?
One to two pages, according to EURES. SETU's careers checklist sets a ceiling of two or two and a half pages.
Should I include a photo on an Irish CV?
No. SETU's checklist says no photo, and EURES notes a photograph is needed only if an application form asks for one. Resumity templates print no photo.
How many referees should I list?
Two, says SETU: one academic and one from work, with job titles and contact details. Ask them first and send them your CV and the job specification.
Should I mention my visa status on my CV?
If it applies to you, yes. SETU lists visa status among the personal details to include, along with driving licence status when the job requires one.
Do I sign my CV in Ireland?
No. SETU tells students not to sign it, because a CV is not a legal document.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Meridian PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 6 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
