Resume template for an on-site job
Short answer
Catalyst fits an on-site, hands-on job: it opens straight on work experience, so the equipment you have repaired and the plant you did it in are the first lines under your name. The fictional sample is a maintenance technician with nine years on factory floors, applying to a plant within commuting distance, with attendance, safety and breakdown response written into the bullets.

Why Catalyst suits an on-site resume
Catalyst prints no summary and starts with work experience, which suits an experienced technician whose current plant job carries the application. Skills follow in labelled rows, so control platforms and hydraulics sit right after the jobs, and the teal headings set in IBM Plex Sans make it look different from the other six.
Second choice: FAANGPath. FAANGPath prints a summary and puts skills above experience, a better order if your PLC and electrical skills are stronger than your job titles.
What goes in each section, in Catalyst's order
Catalyst prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Work Experience. This is the whole case for an on-site hire, and Catalyst prints it first. Name the equipment, the setting and what you did when a line went down, then add the attendance and safety facts a floor supervisor will ask about anyway.
- Skills. Hands-on skills first, then control systems and software by brand, since every plant runs specific hardware. Skip tools every technician owns and keep the ones that took training.
- Education. Diploma or certificate from a maintenance, electrical or mechanical program, with the school and year. A trade program counts for more here than general coursework.
- Certifications. Safety and equipment credentials print near the end, so repeat the one that matters most in your headline or first bullet. Give the issuer and year so a supervisor can check it.

How to make the sample yours
Let the headline do a summary's job
Catalyst prints no summary, so the line under your name has to say what you fix and where. Add the credential the posting asks for if there is room.
Make the commute obvious
Your city in the header tells a plant manager you can make a 6 a.m. start. If you are moving, put "Relocating to Greenville, SC, 01/2027" in the headline so distance is not held against you.
Turn a good attendance record into a bullet
A site loses output when a technician does not show up. An attendance award, or years without an unplanned absence, is a fair and checkable bullet.
Name the machines, not just the trade
A bottling plant reads a resume differently from a sawmill. Replace the fillers and case packers with the equipment you actually kept running.
Reuse the layout for other site-based work
Lab technicians, hotel engineers and facilities staff can follow the same structure: the site, the systems, how you responded to problems and your safety record.
Keywords to keep where they are true
Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.
- on-site
- industrial maintenance
- troubleshooting
- PLC
- Allen-Bradley
- hydraulics
- pneumatics
- preventive maintenance
- lockout/tagout
- OSHA 10
- work orders
- breakdown response
- three-phase electrical
- attendance
Mistakes to avoid
- Leaving your city off the header. For a job you have to turn up to every day, the first check is whether you live within reach.
- Writing a summary paragraph that Catalyst will not print. Move its best line into the headline instead.
- Bullets like "maintained equipment" with no machine, line count or result attached.
- Listing a safety card that has expired or a course you did not finish.
How the sample PDF reads in text extractors
We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.

Frequently asked questions
What does on-site mean in a job posting?
That the work is done at the employer's premises every day, not from home. A resume for it should make your location, attendance and hands-on skills easy to find.
Should I include my full address for an on-site job?
City and state are usually enough. If you want to stress a short commute, say so in the headline or the cover letter.
How do I show reliability on an on-site resume?
With facts: an attendance award, years without a missed shift, on-call duty you covered. A word like "dependable" in the skills list proves nothing on its own.
Can I apply for an on-site job in another city?
Yes, but give the date you will be living there. A relocation line in the headline stops the application being set aside for distance.
How much equipment detail should I include?
Name the main machine types and control platforms. Model numbers are worth adding only when the posting lists them.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Catalyst PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 4 section headings and all 8 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
