Resume template for seasonal work
Short answer
Leslie suits seasonal work because it prints work experience straight after the summary, and for a seasonal applicant the record of being asked back is the strongest evidence there is. The fictional sample has five winters at a ski resort and three summers at a lake lodge, with season dates in the summary, a promotion between seasons and a short list of off-season work.

Why Leslie suits a seasonal resume
Leslie prints experience directly after the summary and ahead of skills, so the run of return seasons and the step up to lead are read first. The single touch of blue in the centred header keeps it friendly for resort and hospitality managers without adding anything to decode.
Second choice: Meridian. Meridian prints skills first and uses no colour; choose it if equipment or till skills are what a seasonal employer screens on.
What goes in each section, in Leslie's order
Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Seasonal hiring starts with dates. Give the season you want with start and end months, whether you can work the holiday peak, and how many seasons you have already completed.
- Work Experience. One entry per employer, with the season in the title ("seasonal, winters") and dates running from your first season to your last. Make the first bullet about returning and how many times.
- Skills. Tasks and systems you can handle on opening day: point of sale, reservations, cash, equipment fitting. Resorts train dozens of people in the same week, so ready skills save them time.
- Education. One line is enough. Name a hospitality or outdoor recreation course in the detail only if it connects to the job.
- Certifications. First aid, food safety or equipment credentials print near the end. If the job requires one, repeat it in the summary so it is seen early.
- Off-season work. A titled list for off-season and shoulder-season work, so the months between seasons are accounted for without a full job entry each.

How to make the sample yours
Write the exact season you want
Change the dates to the season you are applying for and add any limit honestly, for example if you must leave before the closing weekend.
Count the seasons you were asked back
"Returned for five winter seasons" is the line a seasonal manager looks for. Applying somewhere new, it still shows you finish what you start.
Write about the peak days
Seasonal employers hire for their busiest weeks. A bullet on holiday crowds, a sold-out weekend or harvest week says more than a list of duties.
Account for the gaps briefly
Shoulder-season jobs, study or travel between seasons can go in the off-season list, one line each. You do not need to explain every month.
Change the resort detail to your own season
Tax-season preparers, harvest crews, holiday retail staff and camp workers can use the same layout: season dates, returns, peak-volume bullets and a short off-season list.
Keywords to keep where they are true
Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

Mistakes to avoid
- Listing each season as a separate job. Five identical winter entries waste half a page; group them under the employer with the full span.
- Leaving the season dates out. A manager planning for November needs to know you will still be there in April.
- Stretching dates to hide the gaps between seasons. Seasonal managers expect gaps; inaccurate dates are what cause trouble.
- Writing seasonal work as if it mattered less. Promotions, training new staff and keeping queues moving on peak days are real results.

Frequently asked questions
How do I list seasonal jobs on a resume?
Group repeated seasons with the same employer into one entry, put "seasonal" and the season in the title, and use your first and last season as the dates.
Do gaps between seasonal jobs look bad?
Not when the jobs are clearly labelled seasonal; the gaps explain themselves. A short off-season list covers longer stretches if you want them accounted for.
Should I say I plan to come back next season?
Tell the employer you worked for, in your application or a message to the manager. On a resume for a new employer, showing that you returned elsewhere makes the same point.
Can seasonal work lead to a year-round job?
Yes. Promotions, training new staff and handling peak demand are the same evidence a year-round employer wants. Lead with them and keep the seasonal label honest.
How long should a seasonal resume be?
One page. Grouping repeated seasons under each employer keeps even a long seasonal history short.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 6 section headings and all 7 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
