Brand manager resume template
Short answer
Henrietta suits brand managers in consumer goods: it is the conventional business layout, with education printed right after experience, so an MBA appears high on the page. The fictional sample runs the P&L for an $85M frozen breakfast brand, redesigned the pack after a shelf test, launched a protein line extension and moved trade money out of promotions that lost money.

Why Henrietta suits a brand manager resume
Henrietta prints summary, work experience and then education, so a brand manager's MBA sits right below the jobs rather than at the foot of the page. Its black-and-grey layout with hairline rules is the conventional business look, which keeps attention on P&L size, launches and share movement.
Second choice: Leslie. Leslie also leads with experience and adds one touch of blue; pick it if you have no MBA to bring forward.
What goes in each section, in Henrietta's order
Henrietta prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Category, years and the size of what you own. "P&L for an $85M brand" or "two SKUs inside a $300M franchise" sets your level at once. Add one launch or turnaround you would like to be asked about.
- Work Experience. Brand management bullets should read like a P&L review: pricing, trade spend, A&P, launches, packaging, share and velocity. Name the data behind a result (retail scan data, household panel) so a reader trusts it, and show the agencies and functions you led.
- Education. Henrietta prints education right after the jobs. Put the MBA with its concentration and year first, then the undergraduate degree. Case competitions or a marketing club role belong here only within a few years of graduating.
- Skills. The grid prints without group labels, so open with brand craft (P&L ownership, pricing, trade promotion, stage-gate innovation, consumer insight), follow with data and tools (scan data, household panels, Excel, PowerPoint) and end with a short people column.

How to make the sample yours
State what you own and how big it is
Brand revenue, number of SKUs, A&P budget. Round the numbers and keep margins off the page; growth percentages and share points tell the story without exposing the business.
Cite the data behind each result
Consumer goods readers check source and period by habit. "Velocity up 6% in tracked stores over 26 weeks" is believable; "sales grew" is not.
Show one launch from concept to shelf
Innovation is a core part of the job. Give the stages you led (concept test, pricing, packaging, sell-in) and how long the whole thing took.
Include one thing you stopped
Delisting slow SKUs or cutting promotions that lose money shows financial discipline, and brand managers often forget to mention it.
Adjust for your category
Beauty, household and drinks brands use the same skeleton. Swap the frozen-breakfast detail for your category's own terms (regimens, refills, on-premise accounts) wherever they describe real work.

Mistakes to avoid
- Using "brand" to mean visual identity only. Consumer goods brand manager postings are about the business: P&L, pricing and distribution.
- Results with no period or data source, which a consumer goods hiring manager will question straight away.
- Listing agency deliverables (a TV spot, a social campaign, sampling) without the brand result each produced.
- Burying an MBA at the foot of the page when the posting lists it as a requirement.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an MBA to become a brand manager?
Many consumer goods postings ask for one, especially at associate brand manager level, but sales, insights or category management experience also leads into brand roles. Without an MBA, put P&L, pricing and launch work high in your bullets.
How do I show results when sales depend on retailers and promotions?
Use measures that isolate your work where you can: velocity per store, distribution gained, share within the category, the return on a trade event, or a test result before a national rollout.
Should I name syndicated data sources like Circana or Nielsen?
Yes, in the skills grid, if you work with them directly; many brand postings mention scan and panel data. Name the data type too (retail scan, household panel), because companies buy from different suppliers.
How is a brand manager resume different from a marketing manager resume?
A consumer goods brand manager runs a business: revenue, margin, pricing, trade spend and innovation. A marketing manager usually runs campaigns, channels and a team. Your bullets should show money decisions, not only communications.
Can I name the brands I worked on?
Usually, since brand names are public. Keep internal figures such as margin and exact revenue rounded or relative, and leave out products that have not launched yet.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Henrietta PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 4 section headings and all 8 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
