Customer experience manager resume template

Short answer

Leslie suits customer experience managers: it prints work experience before skills, so the programs you ran and what changed for customers come first, under one restrained touch of blue. The fictional sample runs voice-of-customer and journey work for a regional internet provider, cut repeat contacts and early cancellations, holds the CCXP and started out leading contact center quality.

Why Leslie suits a customer experience manager resume

Leslie follows the summary with Work Experience and only then the skills rows, the right order for a CX manager judged on programs launched and measures moved rather than on a survey tool. The centred blue header and short blue underlines look finished for a COO or CMO without the louder full-width band of Olivia.

Second choice: Henrietta. Henrietta prints education straight after the jobs in a black and grey business layout; better for a bank or insurer that expects convention.

Leslie template details and test results

What goes in each section, in Leslie's order

Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. Industry and customer base, the parts of CX you own (listening programs, journeys, contact center quality, service design) and who you report to. Add the CCXP here if you hold it, since certifications print near the bottom.
  2. Work Experience. For each program: what you set up, the volume it handles, and one measure the business moved because of it (repeat contacts, cancellations in the first 90 days, complaint volume, NPS or CSAT for a named journey). Show the departments that made the fixes with you.
  3. Skills. Technical: methods such as journey mapping, survey design, closed-loop follow-up, root cause analysis. Tools: the survey platform, text analytics and BI. Soft Skills: facilitation across departments and executive reporting.
  4. Education. Degree, school and year on one line. Communication, psychology, business or statistics all fit; research methods coursework is worth a short detail if you are early in your CX career.
  5. Certifications. The CCXP with its year, plus vendor training for your survey platform if the posting names it. Leave out short webinars.

How to make the sample yours

Tie every score to a fix

An NPS change on its own invites the question "why?". Write the change you drove (a billing letter rewritten, an install step removed) and then the measure that moved.

Separate listening from acting

One bullet for the program (surveys, call reasons, reviews, volume a month), the next for what changed because of it. Hiring managers want to see both halves of the loop.

Show cross-department work

CX managers rarely own the processes they fix. Name the teams (billing, field operations, digital, product) and how you got the change made: a council, a shared backlog, an executive sponsor.

Pick journey-level metrics

A company-wide score hides what you did. Report CSAT for install or repair, repeat contacts about moves, first-90-day cancellations: the journey you actually worked on.

Match the industry vocabulary

Telecom says churn and truck rolls; banking says attrition and complaints; software says renewal and onboarding. Use the reader's words for the same ideas.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

  • customer experience strategy
  • voice of the customer
  • NPS
  • CSAT

  • service design
  • contact center quality
  • CX governance

Mistakes to avoid

  • Reporting a score increase with no change behind it.
  • Writing a customer service manager resume under a CX title: show company-wide fixes, not queue management.
  • Counting survey responses as an achievement.
  • Quoting customers by name or with details that identify them.

Frequently asked questions

What separates a customer experience manager from a customer success manager?

Customer success managers own accounts and renewals. A CX manager owns the experience across all customers: research, journeys, measurement and the fixes that follow. Write bullets about company-wide change, not individual accounts.

Is the CCXP worth getting before I apply?

It helps if you meet the bar. CXPA asks for three years of full-time CX-specific work plus a post-secondary degree (or a high school diploma and five years including three in CX), then a 100-question exam across five competencies. The credential lasts two years and needs 20 hours of development to maintain.

Which CX metrics should a resume include?

The ones the business acted on: CSAT or NPS for a named journey, customer effort, repeat contact rate, complaints, early cancellations. Pair each with the change that moved it and the period.

How do I move from contact center management into CX?

Lead with work outside the queue: call reason reports that changed a process, quality programs, feedback sessions with product or billing. Keep handle time and staffing bullets short.

Should I put customer quotes on my resume?

One short, anonymous verbatim can illustrate a program, but numbers and decisions carry more weight. Never include names or account details.

Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 8 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
