Product analyst resume template

Short answer

FAANGPath suits product analysts: it prints technical skills rows above the jobs, so SQL, Python and your product analytics tool are read before the experience, in a minimal layout built for technical candidates. The fictional sample analyses a language-learning app, owns its event tracking, reads about eight experiments a quarter and turned a retention finding into a shipped onboarding change.

Why FAANGPath suits a product analyst resume

FAANGPath is a minimal centred layout that puts the summary and labelled skills rows (a dot after each label) ahead of work experience. A product analytics lead screens first for SQL, an experimentation method and a tool such as Amplitude, then reads the jobs for decisions your analysis changed.

Second choice: Meridian. Meridian has the same skills-first order, with colon labels and heading rules that run to the right; a close twin if you prefer that look.

What goes in each section, in FAANGPath's order

FAANGPath prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. Product type (consumer app, B2B software, marketplace), the area you analyse (activation, retention, monetisation), how many squads you support and your core stack. Two sentences.
  2. Skills. Technical: SQL first, then statistics and experiment design, cohort and funnel analysis, metric definitions. Tools: the product analytics platform, warehouse, transformation and BI tools you used at work. Soft Skills: written readouts and working inside a squad.
  3. Work Experience. Write bullets as question, analysis, decision, result: what the team needed to know, what you found, what shipped or stopped, and the metric afterwards. Add the infrastructure you own, such as an event taxonomy or a funnel model others use.
  4. Education. Degree, school and year, with one line of relevant coursework (econometrics, experimental design, statistics) if you graduated in the last few years.

Omar Haddad

Product Analyst, Growth and Retention

Austin, TX | omar.haddad@example.com | (512) 555-0156 | linkedin.com/in/sample-omar-haddad

Product analyst with five years in consumer apps and e-commerce. Works with two product squads on onboarding and retention, owns the event taxonomy, and designs and reads about eight A/B tests a quarter using SQL, Python and Amplitude.

Experience

Product Analyst, Parla Learning, Austin, TX (05/2023 to Present)

  • Found that learners who set a daily goal in their first session came back in week two far more often; the onboarding redesign built on it lifted week-one retention from 31% to 35%.
  • Design and analyse about eight A/B tests a quarter with product managers, covering sample size, guardrail metrics and a written readout.
  • Rebuilt the event taxonomy (140 events) with engineering and cut duplicate or broken events by two thirds.
  • Built a subscription funnel model in dbt and Looker that finance and product use in weekly reviews.

Junior Data Analyst, Bluebonnet Commerce, Austin, TX (06/2021 to 04/2023)

  • Wrote SQL reports on orders, returns and customer segments for marketing and operations.
  • Automated a weekly retention report in Python, saving the team about four hours a week.
  • Traced checkout drop-off by device to a mobile address form bug that engineering then fixed.

Education

BS, Economics, Hill Country University (05/2021). Coursework in econometrics and experimental design

Skills

SQL, Python (pandas, statsmodels), A/B test design, Cohort and funnel analysis, Metric definitions, Amplitude, dbt, Looker, BigQuery, Jira, Written test readouts, Working inside product squads

How to make the sample yours

Start from the product question

"Why do new learners drop after day three?" is a better opening than "Analysed retention data". The question shows you think like the product team.

Show the decision, not the dashboard

For each analysis, say what the team did next: shipped, killed, re-scoped, re-tested. A dashboard nobody acted on is not a result.

Size your experiment work

Tests per quarter, how you set sample sizes and guardrail metrics, and one test that stopped a bad launch. Failed tests that saved effort count.

Name the tracking you own

Event taxonomy, tracking plans, data quality checks. Analysts who keep the instrumentation healthy are hard to replace, so say so.

Match the product stage

A growth team cares about activation and acquisition funnels; a mature product cares about engagement depth and revenue per user. Put the matching work first.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

  • SQL
  • product analytics
  • A/B testing
  • experiment design
  • funnel analysis
  • retention cohorts
  • event tracking
  • Amplitude
  • Python
  • dbt
  • metric definitions
  • statistical significance
  • user segmentation
  • self-serve dashboards

Mistakes to avoid

  • Listing dashboards built with no decision attached.
  • Calling results "statistically significant" without saying how the test was set up.
  • A skills row of fifteen tools, half of them used once.
  • Describing product features you did not analyse or influence.

We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.

Frequently asked questions

How does a product analyst resume differ from a data analyst resume?

A product analyst sits with one product team, so bullets centre on user behaviour, experiments and roadmap decisions. A data analyst resume can span finance, operations or marketing reporting and is judged more on breadth.

How should I describe A/B tests on my resume?

Say what changed, the primary metric, how long it ran or how large the sample was, and what the team did with the result. Include a test that failed if it stopped a costly launch.

Do product analysts need Python?

SQL is the core. Python or R helps with statistics and notebooks; list it if you used it at work and say what for, such as automating a report or running a regression.

Can I include personal analysis projects?

Yes, early in your career. A write-up of a public app dataset or a metrics plan for a side project shows how you think. Link the write-up and keep it to one line.

Which product metrics should appear on the resume?

The ones your product steered by: activation, retention by cohort, conversion through key funnels, engagement depth, revenue per user. Use your team's definitions and the period.

Will applicant tracking systems read this FAANGPath PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 4 section headings and all 7 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
