Go (Golang) developer resume template

Short answer

FAANGPath suits a Go developer: a minimal centred page with Go, gRPC, Kubernetes and the observability stack in labelled skill rows before the jobs. The fictional sample has five years of backend work, the last three in Go on a platform team: a Kubernetes operator, a gRPC flag service with tight latency, a goroutine leak found with pprof, and an earlier move from Python to Go.

Why FAANGPath suits a go developer resume

Go roles are usually infrastructure, platform or high-throughput backend work, where the reader checks the runtime and tooling first: Go, gRPC, Kubernetes, Prometheus. FAANGPath prints summary and skills above experience in plain black and grey, so that check takes seconds and the bullets that follow can stay about systems.

Second choice: Catalyst. Catalyst starts with the latest job and prints no summary; it suits a senior Go developer whose current platform work speaks for itself.

FAANGPath template details and test results

What goes in each section, in FAANGPath's order

FAANGPath prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. Say how long you have written Go, not only how long you have been a developer, and what you build with it: platform services, operators, network services. If you came from another language, one clause explains it.
  2. Skills. Write "Go" in the Technical row and use "Golang" once in the summary if you want the search term. Then concurrency, gRPC and Protocol Buffers, the Kubernetes libraries you use (controller-runtime, client-go) and your observability tools.
  3. Work Experience. Go bullets work best with efficiency numbers: requests per second, p99 latency, memory per instance. Profiling and leak hunting with pprof are specific to Go work and worth a bullet of their own.
  4. Education. Degree and year, one line.
  5. Certifications. A Kubernetes credential such as CKAD fits a Go platform developer, because much Go code runs on or extends Kubernetes. FAANGPath prints it near the end, so mention it in the summary too if a posting asks for it.

Yusuf Demir

Go Developer, Platform Engineering

Vancouver, BC | yusuf.demir@example.com | (604) 555-0158 | github.com/sample-yusuf-demir | linkedin.com/in/sample-yusuf-demir

Backend developer with five years of experience, the last three writing Go (Golang) on a platform team: Kubernetes operators, gRPC services and the metrics behind them. Moved to Go from Python and still reads both.

Experience

Software Developer, Platform, Halcyon Streaming, Vancouver, BC (05/2023 to Present)

  • Wrote a Kubernetes operator in Go with controller-runtime that provisions a PostgreSQL database per team; requests moved from a ticket queue to a pull request.
  • Built a gRPC feature-flag service serving 40,000 requests per second at p99 under 5 ms, with in-memory caching and streamed updates.
  • Traced a goroutine leak that grew memory on every deploy with pprof, fixed the context cancellation and added goleak checks to the tests.
  • Added Prometheus metrics and OpenTelemetry traces to 12 services and built the dashboards teams use on call.

Backend Developer, Tamarack Travel, Vancouver, BC (06/2021 to 04/2023)

  • Built Django REST endpoints for booking changes and cancellations.
  • Rewrote the fare-cache warmer in Go as the team's first Go service; it used about a fifth of the memory of the Python version.
  • Wrote Terraform for the team's AWS resources, replacing setups made by hand in the console.

Education

BSc, Computer Science, Coast Mountain University (05/2021)

Certifications

  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), Cloud Native Computing Foundation (2025)

Skills

Go, gRPC and Protocol Buffers, Concurrency (goroutines, channels, context), controller-runtime, PostgreSQL, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, pprof, Terraform, GitHub Actions

How to make the sample yours

Count your Go years separately

With eight years as a developer and two in Go, say both. Teams hiring for Go want to know how idiomatic your code will be from the first week.

Replace the operator with your own platform work

CLIs, controllers, proxies, data pipelines: name what you built, who uses it and what it replaced, whether tickets, scripts or a slower service.

Keep one profiling story

pprof, execution traces or benchmark-driven fixes are what Go interviewers like to dig into. Use your own leak, allocation or lock contention case.

Show how you test concurrent code

The race detector in CI, goleak, table-driven tests: one clause in a bullet shows care with goroutines.

Remove the certification if you do not hold it

CKAD is a sample detail. Without a certification the section simply does not print, and the rest of the page stays as it is.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

  • Go (Golang)
  • gRPC
  • Protocol Buffers
  • goroutines and channels
  • context cancellation
  • Kubernetes
  • controller-runtime
  • Kubernetes operators
  • Prometheus
  • OpenTelemetry
  • pprof
  • Terraform
  • platform engineering
  • CKAD

Mistakes to avoid

  • "Golang, Go" listed twice in the same skills row.
  • Go bullets without load or efficiency numbers, when efficiency is usually why the team chose Go.
  • Claiming Kubernetes expertise when you only deployed to a cluster someone else ran. Say which.
  • A list of every Go web framework. Many teams use the standard library; name what you used and why.

How the sample PDF reads in text extractors

We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.

Frequently asked questions

Should I write Go or Golang on my resume?

The language is officially called Go, so use that in skills and bullets. Add "Golang" once, in the headline or summary, because many postings and searches use that word.

How do I move from Python or Java into Go roles?

Show Go you have shipped, even one small service, and why it was written in Go. The sample does this with the fare-cache rewrite in the earlier job.

Is a Kubernetes certification useful for a Go developer?

It can be for platform and infrastructure roles, where much of the Go code runs on or extends Kubernetes. It does not replace production Go experience.

What side projects suit a Go developer?

A CLI tool, a small service with tests and benchmarks, or contributions to Go projects in the cloud native ecosystem. Link the repository and keep it to one or two.

Will applicant tracking systems read this FAANGPath PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 7 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
