Hotel front desk agent resume template
Short answer
Olivia suits a hotel front desk agent: its blue header band makes a polished first impression, as a front desk should, and its labelled skill rows put the property management system and your languages above the jobs. The fictional sample checks in about 100 guests a shift at a 320-room hotel, sells room upgrades and speaks three languages, after two years in guest services at a theme park.

Why Olivia suits a hotel front desk agent resume
Olivia opens with a full-width blue band and the name in white, then Technical, Tools and Soft Skills rows before the jobs. Front office managers look for property management software and languages straight away, and this order delivers both. Resumity rates it "Balanced", and on paper the band prints as a solid block of colour.
Second choice: Meridian. Meridian gives the same skills-first order without any colour; choose it if you would rather the page stay quiet.
What goes in each section, in Olivia's order
Olivia prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Hotel type and size (rooms, full-service or select-service, resort or airport), your shifts, the PMS you use and your languages. One result, such as upgrades sold or guest scores, makes it yours.
- Skills. Technical covers desk work: check-in and check-out, reservations, upselling, night audit, complaint handling. Tools names the PMS, key card system and payment terminal. Add a Languages row with an honest level for each.
- Work Experience. Give arrivals per shift, the room count, upgrades or loyalty sign-ups, and how you handled problems (an oversold night, a noisy room, a billing dispute). Include the night audit if you cover it.
- Education. A hospitality or tourism course or degree goes here; a diploma alone is fine for most desk roles.
- Certifications. Hotel training such as AHLEI's START Certified Front Desk Representative, with the year. Add first aid or CPR if your property asks for it.

How to make the sample yours
Name the PMS
Opera Cloud, Maestro or a brand's own system. A hotel on the same system can train you faster, so put it in the summary as well as the skills.
Count arrivals and upgrades
Check-ins per shift, upgrade revenue per month, loyalty enrolments. Use the figures from the desk scoreboard if your hotel kept one.
Show one recovered guest
An oversold night you rebooked, a complaint that turned into a good review. One problem handled well says more than "excellent customer service".
State your shifts
Days, evenings, nights with audit, weekends and holidays. The desk is staffed around the clock and managers hire for the gaps.
Rank your languages honestly
Native, fluent, conversational. Guests will test it on your first day.

Frequently asked questions
Which certifications help a front desk agent resume?
Hotel-specific ones help most. The American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) offers a START Certified Front Desk Representative (CFDR) online course and exam. List it with the year, along with any brand training your hotel gave you.
How do I write a front desk resume with no hotel experience?
Use any job where you greeted people, took payments and solved problems: retail, restaurants, reception, theme parks, call centres. Say you are ready for nights and weekends, when hotels most often need cover.
Should I include night audit experience?
Yes. It shows you can balance the day's accounts and run the desk alone overnight, and it makes you eligible for more shifts.
How do I show customer service on a hotel resume?
With one or two specific recoveries: an oversold night rebooked, a complaint that ended in a good review, a guest emergency handled. Add upgrade sales or guest scores if your hotel tracked them.
How many languages should I list?
Only those you can use with guests, each with an honest level. Even conversational ability in a common guest language helps at a busy desk.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Olivia PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 8 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
