JavaScript developer resume template
Short answer
Use Meridian for an early-career JavaScript developer. Skills print above experience and projects sit before education, so a short job history is backed by code a reviewer can open. The fictional sample is two years into a developer job at a ticketing company after a bootcamp, with a seat map, Node.js scripts and a jQuery removal, plus her earlier box-office job kept short.

Why Meridian suits a JavaScript developer resume
Meridian prints skills above experience and projects before education, the order that helps an early-career developer most: the reader sees JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js, then two years of real work, then open-source fixes and a capstone. It is the editor default, uses no colour and suits most junior applications.
Second choice: Olivia. Olivia uses the same section order under a solid blue header band, which stands out when small studios and agencies read applications on screen.
What goes in each section, in Meridian's order
Meridian prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Lead with the language and the two places it runs, the browser and Node.js, then the product you work on. A clause about your previous career is worth keeping if it explains why you understand the users.
- Skills. JavaScript and TypeScript first, then the browser APIs and runtimes you know (DOM, Canvas, Fetch, Node.js), then tools. Language-level skill, such as async code and the event loop, says more at this stage than a long framework list.
- Work Experience. For the developer job, write what you built and the measurable change. For an older job outside tech, keep two bullets that carry over: the customers you served, people you trained, small automations you wrote.
- Projects. Merged open-source pull requests plus one capstone or side project are enough. Say what the code does and link the repository; for a junior hire, reviewers do open it.
- Education. List the bootcamp as a certificate with its dates and the earlier degree as its own entry. Neither needs more detail once a developer job sits above them.

JavaScript Developer
Pittsburgh, PA | lena.fischer@example.com | (412) 555-0108 | github.com/sample-lena-fischer | linkedin.com/in/sample-lena-fischer
JavaScript developer two years into a ticketing company, writing TypeScript for the browser and Node.js. Came to code through a bootcamp after five years running a theatre box office, so the people buying tickets are familiar.
Experience
JavaScript Developer, Seatwise Tickets, Pittsburgh, PA (09/2024 to Present)
- Built the interactive seat map in TypeScript and Canvas; it draws venues of up to 20,000 seats and supports keyboard seat selection.
- Wrote a Node.js script that turns venue floor-plan exports into seat-map JSON, replacing about two days of manual tracing per venue.
- Replaced jQuery in the checkout widget with plain TypeScript modules, removing 90 KB from the page.
- Fixed event times showing in the wrong zone by formatting every date with Intl.DateTimeFormat in the venue time zone.
Box Office Supervisor, Allegheny Playhouse, Pittsburgh, PA (05/2019 to 03/2024)
- Ran ticket sales for a 1,100-seat theatre and trained eight seasonal staff each year.
- Wrote small Google Apps Script automations for the box-office sales sheet, the start of learning JavaScript.
Projects
Open-source fixes: Merged pull requests to an open-source date-picker library.
- Fixed focus being lost when the calendar closed with the Escape key.
- Added tests for right-to-left layouts.
Setlist (bootcamp capstone): A Node.js, Express and PostgreSQL app where bands share set lists with venues.
- Deployed with automated tests running in GitHub Actions.
Education
Certificate, Full-Stack Web Development, Three Rivers Coding Bootcamp (08/2024)
BA, Arts Management, Monongahela College (05/2019)
Skills
JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Express, DOM and Canvas APIs, Web accessibility, Vite, Jest, Playwright, Git, Chrome DevTools, Customer empathy, Training new staff
How to make the sample yours
Choose JavaScript or TypeScript for your headline
If most of your daily code is TypeScript, write "JavaScript and TypeScript Developer". Postings search for both words.
Keep the earlier career, briefly
Two bullets on the box-office job show customer understanding and responsibility. Replace them with your own previous role, or cut it to the job line if it has nothing to offer.
Add a framework only where you used one
The sample has no React bullet because the work did not need it. If yours used React, Vue or Svelte, add it to skills with one bullet, and keep the plain JavaScript evidence.
Pick one or two open-source fixes
Small merged pull requests (a bug fix, a test, documentation) show you can read other people's code. Link each one directly.
Drop group projects you cannot explain
In an interview you will be asked which parts you wrote. Keep projects where your share is clear.
Keywords to keep where they are true
Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.
- JavaScript
- TypeScript
- Node.js
- Express
- DOM manipulation
- Canvas API
- asynchronous programming
- ES modules
- Jest
- Playwright
- Git
- web accessibility
- npm scripts
- Chrome DevTools
Mistakes to avoid
- A dozen frameworks from a bootcamp syllabus with no code to show for any of them.
- Hiding the career change. A short earlier job explains the timeline better than a gap.
- Projects without links, or links to repositories holding only the starter template.
- "Junior" in your headline. The dates already show your level; let the title describe what you do.
How the sample PDF reads in text extractors
We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.
| Extractor | Name, email, phone | Headings | Bullets intact |
|---|---|---|---|
| pdf.js 4.10.38 | All found | 5 of 5 | 9 of 9 |
| pdftotext (Xpdf) 4.00 | All found | 5 of 5 | 9 of 9 |
| pypdf 6.13.0 | All found | 5 of 5 | 9 of 9 |
Frequently asked questions
Does a JavaScript developer need a framework on the resume to get interviews?
List one if you have used it in real code. Many roles care about the language and the browser first, and a framework you only met in a tutorial is easy to expose in an interview.
How do I list a coding bootcamp?
Under education as a certificate: the course name, the school and its dates. Put what you built there in Projects, not in work experience.
Should my previous non-tech job stay on?
Yes, shortened. It accounts for the years and often shows skills employers want, such as dealing with customers or training staff.
When can I drop the projects section?
Keep one or two projects until your work bullets cover what the posting asks for. Most developers drop them after three or four years in the job.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Meridian PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 9 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
