Frontend developer resume template

Short answer

Daniel suits a frontend developer who works next to designers: section headings sit in soft grey pills and skills fall into a three-column grid, so the page looks considered without colour. The fictional sample is a senior Vue developer at an online furniture store whose bullets are measurable interface work: faster product pages, an accessibility review of checkout and a component library four teams use.

Why Daniel suits a frontend developer resume

Daniel was made for people who sit close to design, which is where most frontend developers spend their week. Its rounded grey heading pills give a softer, more crafted look than plain rules, and it prints skills above experience, so Vue, TypeScript and CSS are read before the job history.

Second choice: Meridian. Resumity labels Daniel "Balanced" rather than "Strict ATS" because of the shaded pills; Meridian has the same order with plain grey rules and labelled skill rows.

What goes in each section, in Daniel's order

Daniel prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. Name the framework and the kind of interface you build ("storefront UI in Vue and TypeScript"), then the one area you own: performance budget, design system or accessibility. That tells a hiring manager which of their problems you solve.
  2. Skills. Daniel prints three columns without labels, one per skill group, so keep framework and language skills in the first group and each column to five or six items. Write CSS and accessibility out by name: frontend screeners look for both and many developers forget them.
  3. Work Experience. Write bullets a visitor to the site would notice: load time, interaction delay, layout shift, accessibility issues fixed, components shipped and how many teams adopted them. Field data from real visitors convinces more than one lab score.
  4. Education. A degree, diploma or bootcamp is one line. Frontend hiring leans on the work itself, so keep it short and let the portfolio link in the header carry the argument.
  5. Talks and writing. The sample uses "Talks and writing" for a meetup talk and a blog post. Any public trace of how you think about the web belongs here: a conference talk, an article, a set of CodePen experiments.

Tomas Herrera

Senior Frontend Developer, Vue and TypeScript

Toronto, ON | tomas.herrera@example.com | (416) 555-0163 | github.com/sample-tomas-herrera | portfolio.example.com/tomas-herrera

Frontend developer with six years building storefront interfaces in Vue and TypeScript. Owns the shared design system components and the performance budget for product pages, and works sprint by sprint with product designers.

Experience

Senior Frontend Developer, Maplecrest Home, Toronto, ON (05/2022 to Present)

  • Rebuilt the product image gallery with responsive images and lazy loading; mobile LCP in field data fell from 3.9 s to 2.3 s.
  • Maintain 60 Vue components in the shared design system, documented in Storybook and used by four product teams.
  • Led a WCAG 2.2 AA review of checkout with the accessibility specialist and fixed 38 issues, including focus order, form labels and contrast.
  • Cut interaction delay on the filters panel by moving price-range calculations into a web worker.

Frontend Developer, Pinewick Digital, Toronto, ON (08/2020 to 04/2022)

  • Built booking and marketing sites for 12 clients in Nuxt, Vue and hand-written CSS.
  • Removed an unused CSS framework from a hotel booking site and moved theming to custom properties, halving the stylesheet.
  • Added Playwright screenshot tests for the three most-edited page templates, catching layout regressions before release.

Talks and writing

  • Meetup talk: "Finding the slow interaction with INP", a walk through field data and the fixes that followed.
  • Engineering blog post on moving design tokens from Sass variables to CSS custom properties.

Advanced Diploma, Interactive Media Development, Lakeshore Polytechnic (06/2020)

How to make the sample yours

Point the header links at work someone can open

Swap the sample GitHub and portfolio for yours. Pin the repositories you want seen; a portfolio with two live projects and a short write-up of each beats ten unfinished demos.

Change the framework if you work in React, Angular or Svelte

Replace Vue everywhere it appears, including the headline. Keep the CSS, accessibility and performance lines: they transfer across frameworks and separate a frontend specialist from a generalist.

Quote Web Vitals the honest way

The LCP drop in the sample (3.9 to 2.3 seconds on mobile) is field data. If you only have Lighthouse runs, write "in lab tests" so a technical interviewer cannot catch you out.

Name the standard behind accessibility work

Write "WCAG 2.2 AA" if that is what you reviewed against, and list what you fixed (focus order, labels, contrast). "Made the site accessible" gives a reviewer nothing to check.

Trim agency work to the matching projects

If you came from an agency, keep the client work closest to the role: e-commerce for a retailer, booking flows for travel. Drop the rest.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

  • Vue 3
  • TypeScript
  • HTML and CSS
  • responsive design
  • Core Web Vitals
  • LCP and INP
  • WCAG 2.2
  • web accessibility
  • design systems
  • Storybook
  • component library
  • Figma handoff
  • Playwright
  • cross-browser testing

Mistakes to avoid

  • Leaving HTML and CSS off as if they were too basic to mention. Frontend roles screen for CSS skill.
  • A perfect Lighthouse score as your headline result; interviewers know lab scores and real-visitor numbers differ.
  • A portfolio link that lands on an empty GitHub profile or a broken demo.
  • Describing designs you built as if you designed them. Write "built from the design team specs" where that is true.

How the sample PDF reads in text extractors

We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.

Frequently asked questions

Should a frontend developer resume link to a portfolio?

Yes, if it shows live, working interfaces. Put the link in the header next to GitHub, and check that every project on it loads quickly on a phone, because that is the first thing a frontend reviewer tries.

Do I need to list HTML and CSS?

Yes. They are assumed but still searched for, and specific CSS skills (Grid, custom properties, container queries) set you apart from developers who only assemble library components.

How do I describe performance work without access to analytics?

Use the numbers you saw while doing the work, from field monitoring or lab runs, and say which. A relative change such as "about 40 percent faster on mobile" is fine when exact figures are private.

Is Vue experience a problem when the job asks for React?

Less than you might think at mid level, where the posting is often about components, state and the browser. Say so in the summary, and add a small React project if you have one.

How many years of frontend work fit on one page?

Six or seven years with two or three jobs fit on one page. Beyond that, shorten older roles to two bullets rather than adding a page.

Will applicant tracking systems read this Daniel PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 7 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
