Marketing analyst resume template

Short answer

Daniel works well for marketing analysts: its skills grid prints straight after the summary, so GA4, SQL and your BI tool are read first, and the soft grey pill headings sit comfortably with a marketing team. The fictional sample measures paid, email and organic channels for an online home goods retailer, built a channel ROI model and moved budget toward what paid back.

Why Daniel suits a marketing analyst resume

Daniel prints skills in a three-column grid right below the summary, then experience, with every section heading inside a rounded grey pill. A marketing director sees the analytics stack first, on a page with a little more personality than a rules-only layout, which suits a team that cares how findings are presented.

Second choice: Meridian. Meridian keeps skills above experience but labels each row (Technical, Tools, Soft Skills); better if you want the stack grouped explicitly.

What goes in each section, in Daniel's order

Daniel prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. Business type, the channels you measure, the systems you own (GA4, the marketing data model, dashboards) and the decision you support, usually where the budget goes next.
  2. Skills. Daniel prints the skill groups as unlabelled columns, so put analysis methods in the first group (channel ROI, attribution, holdout tests, segmentation), tools in the second and working skills in the third.
  3. Work Experience. Every bullet should end in money, customers or a decision: budget moved, cost per order, incremental conversions, a channel paused. Name the analysis method briefly so a reader knows how you got the number.
  4. Projects. A modelling or testing project with a clear output, such as a simple marketing mix model or a geo holdout. Say how the team used it.
  5. Education. Maths, statistics, economics or marketing with the school and year. Add a statistics course line only if the degree title hides it.

Hannah Kessler

Marketing Analyst, E-commerce

Portland, OR | hannah.kessler@example.com | (503) 555-0123

Marketing analyst with five years in e-commerce reporting and analysis. Measures paid search, paid social, email and organic for an online home goods retailer, owns GA4 and the marketing data model, and helps the team decide where each month's budget goes.

Experience

Marketing Analyst, Willamette Home Co., Portland, OR (03/2023 to Present)

  • Built a channel ROI model in SQL and Looker Studio joining ad spend, GA4 and order data; the team moved about 15% of paid social budget to search and email, and blended cost per order fell 12% over two quarters.
  • Designed geo holdout tests for paid social with the agency; two tests found about half the reported conversions were incremental, which reset bidding targets.
  • Rebuilt GA4 events and key events with the web team after a site relaunch, with a tracking plan the team now keeps current.
  • Send a weekly performance note to the marketing director with three findings and one recommended action.

E-commerce Reporting Analyst, Cascadia Outdoor Supply, Beaverton, OR (06/2021 to 02/2023)

  • Produced weekly sales and promotion reports in Excel and Tableau for merchandising and marketing.
  • Set UTM naming rules and cleaned two years of campaign data so channels could be compared.
  • Segmented email subscribers by purchase recency; the reactivation campaign brought back about 1,100 lapsed buyers.

Projects

Marketing mix model pilot: A weekly regression of sales against spend by channel, built in Python on two years of data.

  • Showed diminishing returns on paid social above a weekly spend level.
  • Used in the next annual budget plan alongside the holdout test results.

How to make the sample yours

Show the money you moved

Budget reallocated between channels and what happened to cost per order or return on ad spend afterwards. This is the result a marketing director remembers.

Name your attribution approach

Last click, data-driven, holdout tests, a mix model. Say which you used and what it could not tell you; that honesty reads as seniority.

Speak GA4

Events, key events, explorations, audiences, the BigQuery export. Google has replaced Universal Analytics with GA4, so lead with the setup work you did in GA4.

Pair each channel with its metric

Search with cost per acquisition, email with revenue per send, paid social with incremental conversions. It shows you know each channel's economics.

Drop vanity metrics

Impressions, clicks and followers only belong on the page when they lead to orders, leads or revenue in the same bullet.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Mistakes to avoid

  • Listing Universal Analytics as a current skill.
  • Click-through rates with no link to sales or leads.
  • Saying a campaign "drove" revenue when the analysis only showed correlation.
  • Tool lists without the questions you answered with them.

Frequently asked questions

Should I still list Universal Analytics on my resume?

Only as history, if at all. Google says GA4 has replaced Universal Analytics and that from the week of July 1, 2024 users lost access to Universal Analytics data, the interface and the API. Lead with GA4 and what you set up in it.

How is a marketing analyst different from a market research analyst?

A marketing analyst measures the company's own campaigns and customers: channels, spend, conversion, retention. A market research analyst studies markets and buyers through surveys, interviews and secondary data.

How technical should a marketing analyst resume be?

Show SQL and one BI tool in bullets tied to decisions, and add Python or R if you used them for modelling. A skills grid full of tools with no result in the jobs is less convincing.

How do I present attribution work honestly?

Name the model and its limits, and give test results where you have them, such as a geo holdout or a paused channel. Interviewers trust an analyst who knows what attribution cannot prove.

What if I am moving up from a marketing coordinator role?

Lead with the reporting you already did: weekly campaign reports, UTM rules you set, a dashboard others relied on. Add a small analysis project that ends in a recommendation.

Will applicant tracking systems read this Daniel PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 9 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
