Pharmacist resume template
Short answer
Leslie works for a pharmacist: it prints experience ahead of skills, so your practice setting, prescription volume and the services you run lead the page. Certifications print near the end, which is why the sample states its license in the headline. The fictional sample is a pharmacist-in-charge at a community pharmacy who gives vaccines and runs medication reviews, after three years as a staff pharmacist.

Why Leslie suits a pharmacist resume
Leslie prints work experience before skills, so the setting, daily volume and team you lead come before the list of competencies, which is the order a pharmacy district manager or director of pharmacy reads in. The centred blue header gives the name and PharmD a clean start, and the labelled skill rows keep clinical services apart from dispensing systems.
Second choice: Henrietta. Henrietta prints education straight after experience, better for a new graduate or a residency-trained pharmacist whose PharmD and PGY1 matter most.
What goes in each section, in Leslie's order
Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. License state, practice setting (community, hospital, long-term care, specialty, ambulatory care), daily volume and the clinical services you provide. A pharmacy manager checks license and setting before anything else.
- Work Experience. Volume, team and services: prescriptions verified a day, vaccines given, medication reviews completed, technicians supervised. Bullets carry more weight when they show judgment, such as interventions with prescribers or a safety check you introduced.
- Skills. Clinical services on one row (counseling, immunizations, medication therapy management, anticoagulation or diabetes care if you provide them) and systems on another: dispensing software, the prescription monitoring program, automation. Leslie prints this after the jobs.
- Education. PharmD with school and year, plus any PGY1 or PGY2 residency. Hospital and clinical employers look for residency training here.
- Certifications. Each pharmacist license with its state, then BLS, immunization training and any board certification. These print near the bottom in Leslie, so the license state also goes in the headline.

How to make the sample yours
Name your setting precisely
Community chain, independent, hospital inpatient, long-term care, specialty or mail order: each hires on different evidence, so say which you know in the summary and job titles.
Count clinical interventions
Prescriber calls that changed therapy, interactions or allergies caught, comprehensive medication reviews completed: these show judgment beyond verification speed.
List every state license
If you are licensed in more than one state, list each; that matters for mail-order and telepharmacy roles serving patients in several states.
Show leadership if you supervise
Technicians trained, schedules built, inventory and budget managed. Pharmacist-in-charge and pharmacy manager roles look for it.
Moving into hospital practice
Lead with clinical work (renal dosing, anticoagulation, discharge counseling), add any residency or rotation, and consider Henrietta so education sits right after experience.

Frequently asked questions
Where should a pharmacist put their license on a resume?
In the headline or summary ("licensed in Illinois") and again in certifications with the state and year. Every state requires pharmacists to be licensed, so a reader looks for it first.
Should a pharmacist list the NAPLEX?
Usually not as a separate line: the license implies it. NABP describes the NAPLEX as one component of the licensure process that boards of pharmacy use, so the license with its state says more.
Does a community pharmacist need a residency?
Not usually. The Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that pharmacists seeking clinical or other advanced positions may complete a residency or fellowship. For community roles, list your services, volume and immunization training instead.
How do I show immunization experience?
Name the vaccines you give and a seasonal volume, and list your immunization training and BLS. The BLS says that in most states pharmacists must be certified to give vaccinations, so make that training visible.
How long should a pharmacist resume be?
One page for most staff and community pharmacists; two if you add residency, teaching, research or publications. Clinical and academic roles may ask for a CV instead.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 8 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
