Website content manager resume template
Short answer
Leslie suits website content managers: it prints experience before skills, so the site you ran, the audits you led and their results come first, and its single blue accent keeps the page clean. The fictional sample manages a health system site of about 2,400 pages, cut it down from 4,100, lifted accessibility pass rates and trained 45 editors, after four years as a college web content specialist.

Why Leslie suits a website content manager resume
Leslie prints Work Experience straight after the summary and the skills rows afterwards, so the audits, governance and results you delivered on a real site come before the CMS list. The centred blue header and short blue underlines show restraint with layout, a fair sample of how you would treat a web page.
Second choice: Daniel. Daniel puts an unlabelled skills grid under the summary beneath grey pill headings; better when the posting leads with a specific CMS or toolset.
What goes in each section, in Leslie's order
Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Size and type of site (pages, audiences, sections), the CMS, the team you lead and the editors you support. One line of strategy is enough; the jobs prove it.
- Work Experience. Site-level results: pages cut or merged, pages with a named owner and review date, accessibility pass rates, tasks completed from key pages, search traffic to priority content. Then the workflow you run and who uses it.
- Skills. Technical: content strategy, audits, information architecture, plain language, accessibility, SEO. Tools: the CMS, analytics, an accessibility checker, the editorial calendar. Soft Skills: training editors and negotiating with page owners.
- Education. English, communications, journalism, library science or any degree, with school and year. Content strategy courses can sit on a second line.
- Standards written. A short list of the standards you wrote (style guide, governance policy, editor training). It shows the lasting work behind a content role.

How to make the sample yours
Give the size of the site
Pages, sections, languages, audiences, editors. A 300-page marketing site and a 4,000-page institutional site are different jobs.
Show governance, not only publishing
Owners per page, review dates, archiving rules, a request workflow. Governance is what keeps a large site from growing back to its old size.
Report accessibility against WCAG 2.2
Name the version and level and how you measured it: an automated checker's pass rate, manual audits, fixed issues. W3C notes that content conforming to WCAG 2.2 also conforms to 2.0 and 2.1.
Tie content to tasks
Appointment requests, applications started, calls the contact center no longer receives, forms completed. Readers came to do something; show that more of them did.
Name the CMS and workflow
Drupal, WordPress, Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager or a headless CMS, plus how drafts move to publish. Match the posting if it names one.

Mistakes to avoid
- Counting pages published instead of what changed for readers.
- "Managed the website" with no page count, owners or audiences.
- Calling a site "fully accessible"; give the standard, level and how you measured it.
- Leaving out the editors you trained and supported.
How the sample PDF reads in text extractors
We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.
| Extractor | Name, email, phone | Headings | Bullets intact |
|---|---|---|---|
| pdf.js 4.10.38 | All found | 5 of 5 | 8 of 8 |
| pdftotext (Xpdf) 4.00 | All found | 5 of 5 | 8 of 8 |

Frequently asked questions
What does a website content manager do that a content writer does not?
Owns the whole site's content: structure, ownership, workflow, standards and measurement. A writer produces pages; a content manager decides which pages exist, who keeps them current and when they are retired.
Which accessibility standard should I mention?
WCAG 2.2, the latest published W3C Recommendation, with the level your organisation aimed for. W3C notes that content conforming to 2.2 also conforms to 2.0 and 2.1, so a resume citing 2.2 covers older policies too.
How do I show results from content work?
Use reader tasks rather than page counts: appointment requests, applications started, fewer calls about information now on the site, search visits to priority pages. Give a baseline and a period.
Do I need SEO experience for this role?
Some. Metadata, internal linking, redirects during cleanups and search-friendly page structure often fall to the content manager. One bullet on a cleanup that kept or grew search traffic covers it.
How do I move from writer or editor into content management?
Show work beyond single pieces: an audit you ran, a template you designed, a style guide, editor training, a workflow you set up. Those are the parts of the job a hiring manager cannot see in a writing sample.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 8 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
