Short answer

Meridian suits logistics and supply chain resumes: its labelled skill rows put your WMS, TMS and planning skills ahead of the jobs, where many logistics recruiters start. Why Meridian suits a logistics and supply chain resume

Meridian prints labelled skill rows above work experience, and logistics employers often filter on systems first: a site running Manhattan or Blue Yonder can train someone who already knows the platform in days rather than weeks. With no colour anywhere, it also survives the photocopier in a warehouse office.

Second choice: Leslie. Leslie prints experience before skills with one blue accent, better once your service and cost results outshine your systems list.

What goes in each section, in Meridian's order

Meridian prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. Name your link in the chain (warehouse, transportation, procurement, planning, freight forwarding) and its volume: shipments, pallets, SKUs, lanes or spend. Logistics covers jobs that barely overlap, so the first line has to say which one you do.
  2. Skills. Planning and operating skills go in Technical; the WMS, TMS, ERP and visibility tools go in Tools, by product name. Experience on a platform transfers quickly between employers that run it.
  3. Work Experience. Logistics is judged on service and cost: on-time in-full, pick accuracy, dock-to-stock time, cost per shipment or unit, inventory variance and safety incidents. Put one service number and one cost number in each job, and a safety line somewhere on the page.
  4. Education. A supply chain certificate or degree helps when you move from the floor into planning, as the sample did. The operating results above still carry more weight.

Samuel Okoro

Transportation Planner, Truckload and LTL

Memphis, TN | samuel.okoro@example.com | (901) 555-0129 | linkedin.com/in/sample-samuel-okoro

Transportation planner at a third-party logistics provider, routing about 400 truckload and LTL shipments a week for retail and grocery clients. Four years in the warehouse first, from forklift operator to shift lead, so plans loads the dock can actually build.

Experience

Transportation Planner, Rivergate Logistics, Memphis, TN (05/2023 to Present)

  • Plan and tender about 400 truckload and LTL shipments a week in the TMS, matching loads to carrier capacity and customer delivery windows.
  • Raised on-time in-full delivery for the largest grocery account from 91% to 97% by booking appointments earlier and pre-building multi-stop routes.
  • Cut cost per shipment by about 7% by consolidating partial loads and rebidding six lanes with the carrier team.
  • Build schedules that keep drivers within federal hours-of-service limits and flag routes that will not fit the 11-hour driving window.
  • Review export bookings with the freight forwarder, checking that the agreed Incoterms rule matches who books and pays for each leg.

Warehouse Shift Lead, Rivergate Logistics, Memphis, TN (04/2019 to 04/2023)

  • Led a night shift of 18 associates picking and loading about 30 outbound trailers a night, after two years as a forklift operator.
  • Improved pick accuracy from 99.2% to 99.7% by adding scan verification at staging.
  • Ran daily forklift pre-shift checks and assisted trainers with operator evaluations.
  • Cycle counted the high-value zone weekly, keeping inventory variance under target.

Education

Certificate, Supply Chain Management, Mid-South State Community College (12/2022)

Skills

Load planning, Carrier tendering, Route optimization, Freight cost analysis, Hours-of-service scheduling, Inventory control, Blue Yonder TMS, Manhattan WMS, SAP (shipment lookup), Excel (pivot tables), Carrier negotiation, Shift leadership, Customer updates

How to make the sample yours

Choose metrics by link in the chain

Warehouse: units per hour, pick accuracy, dock-to-stock, inventory variance. Transport: on-time in-full, cost per mile or shipment, tender acceptance. Planning and procurement: forecast accuracy, inventory turns, supplier fill rate.

Show you plan within driving rules

Federal rules for property-carrying drivers allow 11 hours of driving within a 14-hour window and require a 30-minute break once 8 hours of driving have passed. If you build routes around hours of service, say so; it shows your plans are ones drivers can legally run.

Describe forklift training accurately

OSHA requires employers to train and evaluate powered industrial truck operators, with a performance evaluation at least once every three years. Write "forklift trained and evaluated" with the year rather than "forklift certified".

Use trade terms only where you applied them

The ICC describes Incoterms 2020 as eleven three-letter trade terms that set out who handles the tasks, costs and risks of moving goods from seller to buyer. Mention them, along with customs or forwarding work, only if you used them on real shipments.

Make a floor-to-office move visible

If you came up from the warehouse, list both titles under the same employer and keep the floor bullets that show accuracy and leadership. Planners who understand the dock are valued for it.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

  • supply chain
  • transportation planning
  • warehouse operations
  • TMS
  • WMS
  • on-time in-full (OTIF)
  • freight cost
  • carrier management
  • load planning
  • inventory control
  • pick accuracy

Mistakes to avoid

  • "Responsible for shipping and receiving" with no volume, accuracy or cost figure.
  • Claiming you managed carriers or lanes when you keyed in loads someone else planned.
  • "Forklift certified" with no date, when operator evaluations recur.
  • Leaving out safety. Incident-free shifts or a safety improvement is expected evidence in warehouses and fleets.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move from warehouse work into logistics planning?

Show accuracy, leadership and systems use from the floor, take a short supply chain course, and ask to cover planning or inventory tasks. If you move internally, list both titles under the same company.

Which logistics software should I list?

The WMS, TMS, ERP and visibility tools you use, by name: Manhattan, Blue Yonder, SAP, Oracle and so on. Employers on the same system can shorten your training.

Can truck drivers use this layout?

Yes. Put CDL class and endorsements in the headline, then miles, safety record, on-time delivery and equipment types in the bullets. The truck driver guide goes into more detail.

What safety information belongs on a logistics resume?

Incident-free time, audits passed, equipment training with dates, and any safety process you improved. Keep it factual and recent.

Is a supply chain certificate worth it?

It helps most when moving from operations into planning or procurement, or when an employer lists one. Experience with real volumes still matters more.

Will applicant tracking systems read this Meridian PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 4 section headings and all 9 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
