Elegant resume template: centred, quiet and polished

Short answer

Leslie is the most elegant of Resumity's seven templates: a centred blue header, short blue underlines under dark headings, and plain Inter type everywhere else. None of the seven offers serif or script fonts, gold accents or ornamental borders, so elegance here comes from balance and restraint. The fictional sample is a guest experience manager at a boutique hotel.

Why Leslie suits an elegant resume

Leslie centres the name, contact line and headline in blue, then sets dark capital headings, each with a short blue underline. The symmetry and one colour used sparingly give the page a composed, finished look, and experience follows the summary directly, so the hotel roles lead the reader down the page.

Second choice: Catalyst. Catalyst is the one template set in IBM Plex Sans rather than Inter, with teal headings and a large left-aligned name; it prints no summary, so the headline has to introduce you.

What goes in each section, in Leslie's order

Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. Measured, specific sentences. Elegance on paper is mostly economy: one line on your setting (boutique, luxury, private client), one on whom you lead, one on the detail you are known for.
  2. Work Experience. Choose bullets that show taste and judgment as well as volume: a pre-arrival routine, a service standard you wrote, a review score you moved. Keep each to one or two lines so the centred header is not followed by dense blocks.
  3. Skills. Labelled rows, with a dot after each label. A second language is a real asset in guest-facing work; give it with an honest level.
  4. Education. One clean entry. Hospitality degrees and hotel school diplomas both belong here; drop coursework once you hold a management role.

How to make the sample yours

Keep the lines even

A refined page looks balanced from arm's length. Aim for bullets of similar length, and avoid one job with six bullets beside another with one.

Prefer plain verbs

"Plan", "lead", "resolve" and "train" sit better than "spearheaded" or "orchestrated". Understatement is most of what reads as grace on a resume.

Replace the hotel with your setting

A luxury retail client advisor, an event planner or a private office manager can keep this structure and swap in their own clients, standards and tools.

Limit the header to one link

A long contact line breaks the symmetry of the centred blue header. One LinkedIn link is plenty.

Print one copy and look at it

Balance depends on spacing. Check for a lone line spilling onto page two or a heading stranded at the foot of page one, and trim until neither happens.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

  • guest experience
  • guest relations
  • VIP arrivals
  • concierge services
  • front office management
  • service recovery
  • Opera PMS
  • guest satisfaction
  • luxury hospitality
  • team leadership
  • pre-arrival planning
  • bilingual

Mistakes to avoid

  • Looking for a script typeface or a gold accent. None of the seven templates has one, and decorative type would fight a plain text page anyway.
  • Flowery copy ("curating unforgettable moments of delight"). Elegant writing is precise, not ornate.
  • Crowding the page to look substantial. The space around each entry is part of the effect.
  • Naming VIP guests or private clients. Discretion is part of the job you are applying for.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a resume look elegant?

Balance, consistent spacing, one accent colour used sparingly and concise writing. Decorative fonts and ornaments usually work against it on a document people skim.

Do any Resumity templates use a serif font?

No. Six are set in Inter and Catalyst in IBM Plex Sans, both sans-serif faces. Elegance here comes from layout and spacing rather than a traditional typeface.

Which jobs suit an elegant resume?

Any role where presentation is part of the work: hotels, private banking, luxury retail, events, executive support. The content still has to show results; the look only helps them land.

Should an elegant resume fit on one page?

One page is easiest to keep balanced. If you need two, make sure the second holds at least a third of a page so it does not look like overflow.

How can I add a personal touch without decoration?

Through specifics: a language you speak, a standard you created, a guest preference you built a routine around. Details like these make a page feel personal in a way an ornament cannot.

Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 4 section headings and all 7 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
