Two page resume template for a long, relevant career
Short answer
Leslie handles a two-page resume well because work experience follows the summary directly, so page one is spent on your most recent roles. The fictional sample is a civil engineering project manager with sixteen years, four employers and a list of selected projects, written to fill both A4 pages. If content runs longer, Resumity templates carry on to a third page, but they add no page numbers or repeated header.

Why Leslie suits a two page resume
Leslie prints work experience straight after the summary, ahead of skills and education, so the first page goes to the last two roles, which is what a reader of a long resume weighs most. The centred blue name and a short blue underline under each heading make the sections easy to find again after the reader turns to page two.
Second choice: Catalyst. Catalyst drops the summary and opens on the current job under a large left-aligned name with teal headings, which frees a few lines on page one; the headline then has to introduce you.
What goes in each section, in Leslie's order
Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Three sentences that set the scale for everything after them: discipline, years, contract size and the licences that let you sign off work. The sample names its PE and PMP here because the certifications list prints on the last page.
- Work Experience. This takes most of both pages. Give the current and previous roles five or six bullets each with contract values, schedules and team sizes, the third role four, and the oldest two or three. Detail should thin out as you go back in time.
- Skills. In Leslie this follows experience, so on a two-page resume it usually opens page two. Treat it as a quick index of methods and software for a reader who skipped ahead, and keep it to three rows.
- Education. Degree, field, school and year for each qualification. Sixteen years in, nothing more is needed unless a postgraduate degree relates directly to the role.
- Certifications. Licence or certification, issuing body and year; for a state licence, name the state. They sit near the end of page two, which is why the headline and summary repeat them.
- Selected projects. A "Selected projects" list is where a project-based career earns its second page: one line per project with the client type, value and your role. Choose the five or six a hiring manager would ask about.

How to make the sample yours
Make page one stand alone
Everything a reader needs to decide whether to keep reading (title, licences, current role, best results) should sit above the page break. Read page one by itself and check that it still makes your case.
Give page two enough to read
A second page holding a few lines looks like overflow. Aim to fill at least half of it, or edit back down to one page.
Check where the page breaks
The templates keep each section heading with the first lines of its content, so a heading is never stranded at the foot of page one. A job entry can still split across the break; if that happens to your key role, trim the bullets above it.
Staple printed copies
Resumity prints your name and contact details once, at the top of page one, and adds no page numbers. If you hand over paper copies, staple them so page two cannot go astray.
Swap in your own project list
A software architect might list systems and user numbers; a construction manager, buildings and contract values. Keep the one-line pattern: what, for whom, how large, your role.
Keywords to keep where they are true

Mistakes to avoid
- Stretching a one-page career to two with longer bullets or wider spacing. A second page should come from more relevant work, not more words per job.
- Giving a role from fifteen years ago the same detail as your current one.
- A second page that holds only education and an interests line.
- Listing every project you have touched. Choose the ones closest to the job you want next.
How the sample PDF reads in text extractors
We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.

Frequently asked questions
When should a resume be two pages?
When you have roughly ten or more years of relevant experience, or a shorter career full of projects, licences or publications the job asks about. Length should follow content: the reader should find no filler on either page.
What goes on the second page of a resume?
Usually older roles, then skills, education, certifications and any extra list such as selected projects. In Leslie the order is fixed: experience, skills, education, projects, certifications, then the extra list.
Do US federal jobs accept a two-page resume?
Two pages is now the maximum for most of them. OPM guidance says that from September 27, 2025, USAJOBS restricts resumes to two pages for Title 5 competitive and excepted service announcements, and an applicant whose only resume is longer is not considered further. Follow each announcement's instructions.
Can a resume run to three pages or more?
Academic and research CVs often do, and some senior roles ask for more detail. Resumity's templates carry on to a third page when the content needs it, keeping each heading with its first lines, but they print no page numbers or running header. For most other applications, editing down to two pages serves you better.
Should my name appear on page two?
In Resumity your name and contact details print once, at the top of page one. Keep the strongest material on that page, and staple printed copies so the pages stay together.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 6 section headings and all 18 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
