Argentine CV template: how to set out a currículum

Short answer

Daniel suits an Argentine currículum for a designer or product person: a profile, then skills, jobs newest first, case-study projects, the degree and courses. The national Labour Secretariat's guide lists DNI number, date of birth, marital status and nationality under personal data and calls the photo optional. The fictional sample is a UX/UI designer at a software company in Córdoba.

Why Daniel suits an Argentina resume

Daniel sets each heading in a rounded grey pill on a left-aligned page, a softer look that suits a designer; UAI's careers service notes that design, architecture and advertising jobs allow a more creative CV than administrative ones. It stays single-column, and its projects section carries two case studies between the jobs and the degree.

Second choice: Henrietta. Henrietta is the sober black and grey option, with education straight after the jobs, for administrative or finance roles.

Daniel template details and test results

What goes in each section, in Daniel's order

Daniel prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. UAI's model opens with a short self-description and objective. Write about the products you design and the users you work with, not adjectives; the Labour Secretariat's guide says a CV has to be clear and convincing and catch the reader's interest.
  2. Skills. The Labour Secretariat's guide treats languages and computing as short lists: the language or program and a level (básico, intermedio, avanzado). Daniel prints the groups as three unlabelled columns, so put research and design methods in the first and the levels inside brackets.
  3. Work Experience. Give the company and its sector, your position, the dates and a brief bullet list of tasks, as the Labour Secretariat lists them. UAI asks for month and year at both ends and the achievement in each job, and it suggests adding the area or team you worked in.
  4. Projects. For a designer, two case studies say more than a list of clients: the problem, your research, what you shipped and a measured result. Keep each one to two bullets and link the full case in your portfolio.
  5. Education. Title or studies in progress, institution and year of graduation, per the Labour Secretariat. UAI adds the status (in progress, graduated, abandoned) with start and end dates, and lists down to secondary school; once you hold a degree, the professional council's guide in Buenos Aires says secondary school is not needed.
  6. Courses. The Labour Secretariat gives extra courses their own block, formación complementaria, with course name, institution, year and status: en curso, finalizado or abandonado. Keep only the ones that matter for the post.

How to make the sample yours

Add the personal data line in Word

The Labour Secretariat lists name, DNI number, date of birth, marital status, nationality and contact details as personal data, and UAI adds whether you have children. The template prints name, city, phone and email only, so type the rest as one line under your name in the DOCX if you include it.

Photo: optional or recommended

The Labour Secretariat says you can add a photo but do not have to. UAI recommends a recent ID-style photo, front-facing and in formal clothes, and the Buenos Aires professional council's guide also asks for a current image. Resumity templates print none; insert one in Word if you want it.

One CV per profile

UAI suggests a separate CV for each field when your experience spans two, so a designer who also teaches would keep two versions. Each should hold only what that kind of job asks for.

Reason for leaving: optional

UAI suggests noting why you left each job, or why you are looking now, along with the achievement. The sample leaves it out; if you add it, keep it to a few neutral words such as "moved to in-house product design".

Interests only if they help

The Labour Secretariat treats personal interests as optional and says they are worth mentioning only when relevant, such as sport for a physically demanding job, not that you like video games or music.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

  • UX design
  • UI design
  • user research
  • usability testing
  • interaction design
  • prototyping
  • design systems
  • Figma
  • accessibility (WCAG)
  • information architecture
  • onboarding
  • conversion
  • design handoff
  • English (advanced)

Mistakes to avoid

  • Leaving a course without its status, when the Labour Secretariat asks whether it is in progress, finished or abandoned.
  • Listing hobbies such as video games or music, which the Labour Secretariat says add nothing.
  • Sending one mixed CV for two different professions instead of the separate versions UAI suggests.
  • Using an artistic or effects-heavy photo; UAI says it takes seriousness away from the document.
  • Using an email address that is not built from your name; the Buenos Aires council's guide suggests a dedicated work address.

Frequently asked questions

Should I put my DNI and date of birth on an Argentine CV?

The Labour Secretariat's guide lists DNI number, date of birth, marital status and nationality as personal data, and the Buenos Aires professional council's model shows date of birth with CUIT or DNI. Add them in Word under your name if you choose to; the template has no field for them.

Is a photo required on a CV in Argentina?

No. The Labour Secretariat says it is optional, while UAI's careers service recommends a recent ID-style photo in formal clothes. Resumity templates print none, so insert one in Word when you decide to use it.

Should I list unfinished studies?

Yes, with their status. The Labour Secretariat asks for studies in progress as well as finished ones, and the Buenos Aires council's guide says to include unfinished university studies with the years or semesters you completed.

Chronological or functional CV in Argentina?

The Labour Secretariat calls the chronological CV, newest first, the most used, and suggests the functional one when you want to group skills or have long gaps without work.

How should I show my level of English?

Name the language and a level (basic, intermediate or advanced), as the Labour Secretariat suggests; the Buenos Aires council's model adds spoken and written levels and any official certificate.

Will applicant tracking systems read this Daniel PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 6 section headings and all 9 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
