CV template for Croatia (Croatian CV format)
Short answer
Leslie suits a Croatian CV (životopis) for an operations role: a short profile, then work history ahead of skills and education, each section newest first, as the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) advises. HZZ caps it at one to two pages, and EURES says to write it in Croatian unless asked otherwise; a photo is optional. The fictional sample is a logistics coordinator at a port forwarder in Rijeka.

Why Leslie suits a Croatia resume
Leslie prints work experience straight after the profile and before skills, so the shipments, routes and systems a logistics employer screens for come first. HZZ suggests making section headings stand out in one consistent style, which is what Leslie's dark headings with short blue underlines do under a centred blue header.
Second choice: Henrietta. Henrietta keeps the jobs first and puts education right after them, in plain black and grey; choose it for a more formal look.
What goes in each section, in Leslie's order
Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Three lines on the cargo, routes and systems you handle. HZZ asks that the CV and the cover letter be adapted again for each job, so rewrite the profile for every application.
- Work Experience. HZZ wants work and education in chronological order with the newest entry at the top of each section; the University of Rijeka's career office calls it reverse chronological. Give month and year at both ends and the volumes you moved.
- Skills. Systems, customs and transport documents, then languages. HZZ's filled-in example names Croatian as the mother tongue and rates other languages on the European A1 to C2 scale; use the same levels.
- Education. Newest first, with the qualification written as it appears on the diploma. EURES says public employers ask for proof such as certificates and diplomas, so the title here should match the paper.
- References. EURES says recommendations from former employers are usually not mandatory but are a good idea to enclose. List two people who have agreed, with their role, company and a phone number or email.

How to make the sample yours
Write it in Croatian unless told otherwise
EURES says a CV should be typed on a computer and written in Croatian unless otherwise requested. The sample is in English for readers abroad; translate it for a Croatian-language advert.
One to two pages
HZZ says a CV must not be longer than one to two pages because employers receive many of them, and the University of Rijeka's career office gives the same range.
Table layout or headed sections
HZZ and the Rijeka career office both suggest a table layout, for example the Europass form. Resumity templates are a single column of headed sections in the same newest-first order; when an advert asks for Europass, fill in that form.
Photo: optional
EURES says a photo is not necessary, though you can always include one, such as a passport photo. Resumity templates print none; insert one in Word in the DOCX file if you want it.
Leave out what an employer may not ask
EURES notes that an employer may not ask for information unrelated to the job, such as family status, pregnancy or religious or national affiliation. HZZ's Europass example shows a date of birth; it is your choice, added in Word if you want it.
Never send the CV alone
The University of Rijeka's career office lists a CV sent without a cover letter among the most common mistakes. Write a short letter for each job, as HZZ also advises.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a CV be in Croatia?
One to two pages. HZZ says a CV must not run longer, and the University of Rijeka's career office recommends the same.
Should a Croatian CV be written in Croatian?
Yes, unless the employer asks otherwise, according to EURES.
Do I need a photo on a Croatian CV?
No. EURES says a photo is not necessary but you can include one, such as a passport photo. Resumity templates print no photo; add one in Word to the DOCX file if you like.
Do Croatian employers expect the Europass format?
It is suggested, not required. HZZ recommends a table layout such as the Europass form, and the Rijeka career office links to Europass; use the form whenever an advert asks for it.
What documents might I need besides the CV?
EURES says public sector employers ask for proof of qualifications (certificates, diplomas) and a certificate of no criminal record; private employers sometimes ask for diplomas or professional exam certificates.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 7 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
