CV template for Slovenia (Slovenian CV format)

Short answer

Meridian suits a Slovenian CV (življenjepis) for a lab or technical role: a short profile, then skills, work history with the latest job first, education and extra training. The Employment Service of Slovenia (ESS) describes a CV as one to two pages, and EURES says to write the application in Slovenian and suggests a suitable photo. The fictional sample is a quality control analyst at a pharmaceutical plant in Novo mesto.

Why Meridian suits a Slovenia resume

Meridian prints skills right under the profile, so the methods and lab systems a pharmaceutical QC advert lists (HPLC, dissolution, LIMS) are read first. It uses no colour and thin grey rules, so it prints and copies cleanly, and its closing custom list holds the additional training ESS asks about.

Second choice: Henrietta. Henrietta prints experience and education before a three-column skills grid; choose it if your degree and lab years should lead.

Meridian template details and test results

What goes in each section, in Meridian's order

Meridian prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. ESS treats an employment goal as optional and warns it should be neither too broad nor too narrow. Two or three lines naming your lab area, your years and the role you want next cover it.
  2. Skills. Methods, then instruments and software, then languages. EURES asks you to support your skills with examples, so each method listed here should turn up in a bullet below.
  3. Work Experience. ESS says the latest or current job usually comes first, followed by earlier ones, each with the period, organisation, position, tasks, responsibilities and achievements.
  4. Education. ESS lists the institution, the dates from and to, and the title of the qualification obtained. Use the title exactly as it is printed on the diploma.
  5. Additional training. ESS keeps a category for additional training and knowledge. List GMP or method courses with the year; Europass Slovenija advises putting more important information before less important.

How to make the sample yours

Write it in Slovenian

EURES says to write your application in Slovenian, and notes that ESS helps you produce a Slovenian CV through the poiščidelo.si portal. The sample is in English for readers abroad; translate it before applying.

One to two pages

ESS describes the CV as a one to two page document. Europass Slovenija says two A4 pages are usually more than enough, whatever your education or experience.

Consider a suitable photo

EURES says it is a good idea to include a suitable photograph; the ESS and Europass Slovenija pages do not mention one. Resumity templates print none; insert one in Word in the DOCX file.

Birth date and marital status are optional

ESS lists name, address, phone and email as personal data and notes that some people also give their birth details and marital status. Add them under your name in Word only if you want to.

References only with permission

ESS says references are not a required category, and that if you include them you should always check first that you may give each person's number or recommendation.

Keep originals for the interview

EURES says not to attach original education certificates or employment references to the application, but to bring them to the interview.

  • Naming referees before checking with them, as ESS asks you to.
  • Listing a method you have only watched being done; EURES says never to include false or misleading information.
