Android developer resume template
Short answer
FAANGPath works for an Android developer: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and the Jetpack libraries print in labelled rows before the jobs, on a minimal black and grey page. The fictional sample is three years into Android work in Bengaluru, building for budget phones and patchy networks, so the bullets measure download size, cold start time and the ANR rate shown in Android vitals.

Why FAANGPath suits an android developer resume
FAANGPath prints summary, then skills, then experience. Android postings often read like a library checklist (Compose, Coroutines, Room, Hilt), and a labelled skills block before the jobs lets a screener tick it off quickly. Its plain centred layout also suits an early-career engineer with two jobs and one app to show.
Second choice: Meridian. Meridian has the same order with no colour and grey rules beside the headings; pick whichever look you prefer.
What goes in each section, in FAANGPath's order
FAANGPath prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Your Android years, your main language and the conditions you build for. "Budget phones and slow networks" tells a team in a price-sensitive market that you think about size and memory, which a generic summary would hide.
- Skills. Technical: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow, Room, Hilt, Retrofit, plus Java if you maintain it. Tools: Android Studio, Gradle, Play Console, Crashlytics. Write library names exactly as Google does; screeners search for them as written.
- Work Experience. Measure what Android users notice: install size, cold start, ANRs, crashes, battery. Name the test device class and the migration you did (XML layouts to Compose, Java to Kotlin, LiveData to Flow).
- Projects. A Google Play app you built and still maintain proves you can handle signing, release tracks and user reviews alone. Give installs and keep it to one or two lines.
- Education. Degree, college and graduation year. Early on you can add a final-year project in the detail line, but the jobs above should carry the page.

Arjun Mehta
Android Developer, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
Bengaluru, India | arjun.mehta@example.com | +91 80 555 0147 | github.com/sample-arjun-mehta | linkedin.com/in/sample-arjun-mehta
Android developer with three years of Kotlin, building for budget phones and patchy mobile networks. Recent work focuses on app size, cold start time and the ANR rate in Android vitals.
Experience
Android Developer, Kiranapath, Bengaluru, India (08/2024 to Present)
- Rebuilt cart and checkout in Jetpack Compose, replacing XML layouts and a 1,400-line Fragment.
- Cut the download size from 38 MB to 21 MB with an App Bundle, R8 rules and WebP images.
- Moved disk and network work off the main thread with coroutines, roughly halving the user-perceived ANR rate in Android vitals.
- Added baseline profiles; cold start on the team's low-end test phone fell from 3.1 s to 2.2 s.
Associate Software Engineer, Android, Pocketline Payments, Bengaluru, India (07/2023 to 07/2024)
- Built bill-payment screens in Kotlin with MVVM, Room and Hilt.
- Wrote view model tests with JUnit and Turbine for the payment status flow.
- Fixed 30 crash clusters reported in Firebase Crashlytics during the first six months.
Projects
StopAlert: A Kotlin app on Google Play that vibrates before your bus stop, using location only while a trip is active.
- About 5,000 installs; screens translated into Hindi and Kannada.
Education
B.Tech, Computer Science and Engineering, Deccan Institute of Technology (06/2023)
Skills
Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow, MVVM, Room, Hilt, Retrofit, Java (legacy modules), Android Studio, Gradle, Play Console, Firebase Crashlytics, GitHub Actions, English, Hindi, Kannada
How to make the sample yours
Match the device story to your users
If your users carry recent flagship phones, drop the low-end framing and write about what matters for them instead: tablets and foldables, large-screen layouts or Wear OS.
Quote Android vitals carefully
Play Console reports user-perceived crash and ANR rates. Give the direction and size of your change ("roughly halved") when exact figures are confidential, and say which release brought it.
Lead with your migration
Moving screens from XML to Compose, or a module from Java to Kotlin, is a favourite Android interview topic. Put yours in the first bullet of the current job.
Keep the spoken languages row only if it helps
The sample lists English, Hindi and Kannada. For teams shipping apps in several Indian languages that is relevant; elsewhere, drop it and save a line.
Link your Play Store listing
Add your own app as a portfolio link so a reviewer can install it in a minute.
Keywords to keep where they are true

Mistakes to avoid
- Java listed first when the job is Kotlin-first and you write Kotlin every day.
- "Improved app performance" with no metric: size, start time, frames, ANRs or crashes.
- Course clones such as a tutorial weather app presented as products.
- Leaving out testing. Name JUnit, Turbine or Compose UI tests if you write them.
How the sample PDF reads in text extractors
We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.
| Extractor | Name, email, phone | Headings | Bullets intact |
|---|---|---|---|
| pdf.js 4.10.38 | All found | 5 of 5 | 8 of 8 |
| pdftotext (Xpdf) 4.00 | All found | 5 of 5 | 8 of 8 |
| pypdf 6.13.0 | All found | 5 of 5 | 8 of 8 |
Frequently asked questions
Should an Android developer still list Java?
Yes, if you maintain Java code, but after Kotlin. Writing "Java (legacy modules)" tells a reader the balance.
How do I show performance work on an Android resume?
Name the metric, the device and the change: download size from Play Console, cold start on a named low-end phone, ANR rate from Android vitals. Before and after numbers make the bullet checkable.
Is a personal app worth including at three years of experience?
If it is live on Google Play and maintained, yes. It shows you own a whole release process, not only features in a shared codebase.
Should I mention Flutter or Kotlin Multiplatform?
Only if you have shipped with them. A line in skills is enough; keep the page about native Android if that is the job you want.
Will applicant tracking systems read this FAANGPath PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 8 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
