Shopify developer resume template

Short answer

FAANGPath suits Shopify developers: the technical skills rows print above the jobs, so Liquid, theme architecture, checkout extensions and the Shopify APIs are read first. The fictional sample builds Online Store 2.0 themes and private apps at a commerce agency, moved 20 client stores off additional scripts and wrote a Shopify Function, after nearly three years as a front-end developer.

Why FAANGPath suits a shopify developer resume

FAANGPath is a minimal centred layout that prints the summary and labelled skills rows, with a dot after each label, before the jobs. Agencies and brands hiring a Shopify developer screen for Liquid, Online Store 2.0, checkout extensions and the APIs first, then read which stores you built and what changed.

Second choice: Meridian. Meridian prints the same skills-first order with colon labels and grey rules beside each heading; a near equivalent in a slightly softer style.

What goes in each section, in FAANGPath's order

FAANGPath prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.

  1. Professional Summary. Theme work, app work or both, Shopify or Shopify Plus clients, years on the platform and one current specialty such as checkout extensions or headless storefronts.
  2. Skills. Technical: Liquid, JavaScript or TypeScript, sections and blocks, checkout extensions, Functions, performance work. Tools: Shopify CLI, the Admin and Storefront APIs, your front-end framework, CI. Soft Skills: merchant handoff and estimating.
  3. Work Experience. Stores built or rebuilt, apps shipped, migrations done, and one performance or revenue result per job. Name the API or extension type in the bullet so a technical reader can follow what you actually wrote.
  4. Projects. A starter theme, an internal app, an open-source snippet library or a public demo store. Projects show code quality when client work is under agreement.
  5. Education. Computer science, a bootcamp or self-taught with a strong portfolio all work. One line; the stores and apps carry the application.

How to make the sample yours

Separate theme work from app work

Liquid themes and embedded apps call for different skills. Give each its own bullets so a brand hiring for one can find it.

Count your checkout migrations

Shopify made the additional scripts box view-only on August 28, 2025 and set August 26, 2026 as the deadline for non-Plus stores to upgrade Thank you and Order status pages. Stores you moved to apps, pixels and extensions are recent, relevant work.

Give performance numbers

Largest Contentful Paint, total blocking time, app scripts removed, theme size. Speed work is easy to measure and merchants care about it.

Name the APIs and extension points

GraphQL Admin API, Storefront API, Checkout UI extensions, Functions, theme app extensions. Precise names show you have built with them, not read about them.

Link work you may share

A GitHub profile, a demo store or a public theme. Ask before linking a client store, and say what part of it you built.

Keywords to keep where they are true

Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

Mistakes to avoid

  • "Shopify" on its own, with no word on whether you build themes, apps or both.
  • Presenting additional scripts work as current practice rather than as something you migrated.
  • Linking client stores you are not allowed to share.
  • Calling theme editor settings changes development work.

We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.

Frequently asked questions

Should I still mention additional scripts work?

Mention it as migration work. Shopify made the additional scripts box view-only on August 28, 2025 and gave non-Plus stores until August 26, 2026 to upgrade their Thank you and Order status pages, so moving those customizations to apps, pixels and extensions is the experience merchants need now.

Do Shopify developers need React?

Theme work needs Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. App and extension work adds a JavaScript framework and the GraphQL APIs, so list React, or whatever you used, if you build apps.

How do I present agency work across many stores?

As one job with counts (themes built, apps shipped, stores migrated) and two or three bullets with a specific result. Name clients only where your agency allows it.

Should I include headless storefront work?

Yes, with the framework (Hydrogen, Next.js or another) and the Storefront API work behind it. Say why the brand went headless and what it changed for the team that maintains the storefront.

What should a junior Shopify developer show?

A development store with one or two custom sections, a small app or Function, and clean code on GitHub. Pair it with front-end work from any source: freelance sites, a bootcamp, a course project.

Will applicant tracking systems read this FAANGPath PDF?

The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 10 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
