Where to upload your resume on LinkedIn (2026)

There are two places, and they do different jobs. To apply for jobs, upload your resume in LinkedIn's Job application settings, or on the Easy Apply form. To show it on your profile, add it to the Featured section. LinkedIn says a resume on your profile can't be used for job applications.

Every step below comes from a LinkedIn Help Center article, linked next to it and listed at the end. We have no screenshots because we haven't got a LinkedIn account to take them with. LinkedIn renames menus from time to time, so if a label differs, follow the linked article.

Where do you upload a resume on LinkedIn?

In Job application settings: open it, then click Upload under Resume. (source 1)

How do you upload a resume when you use Easy Apply?

Attach it on the application form, under Resume, before you submit. (source 1)

On a computer or phone

  1. Search for a job.
  2. Click or tap the job title to see the details.
  3. Click or tap Easy Apply. If the button says Apply instead, LinkedIn sends you to the company's own website or job board.
  4. Complete the required fields.
  5. Under Resume (optional), select Upload resume. The file must be Microsoft Word or PDF; LinkedIn recommends under 2MB.
  6. Click or tap Submit application.
  • If the file won't attach, LinkedIn suggests trying a different browser. (source 1)
  • Check the file first. You can't reopen a submitted application to add a resume, and you can't edit or withdraw it. (source 6) If the job poster gave contact details, you can send the resume in an InMail message. (source 1)
  • Easy Apply works in a desktop browser or the LinkedIn mobile app. (source 6) It has a daily limit that resets at the end of the day (UTC), and sending many applications quickly pauses it for a while. (source 8)

How do you save a resume for future applications?

Upload it in Job application settings once, then pick it on each Easy Apply form. (source 2)

To upload a resume for later

  1. Open Job application settings and click Upload under Resume.
  2. Or go to the Jobs tab, click Preferences, then Resumes and application data, and click Upload resume.

LinkedIn keeps your four most recently uploaded resumes. (source 1) When you apply, it pre-selects the one you used most recently, and your saved resumes are not automatically shared with employers. (source 3) Saved resumes work only on Easy Apply jobs; on jobs that send you to a company website, you upload your file there. (source 2)

Add it to the Featured section as a document. (source 9)

On a computer

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage, then View Profile.
  2. Click Add profile section in your introduction section.
  3. Open the Recommended dropdown and click Add Featured.
  4. Click the Add icon at the top right of the Featured page.
  5. Select the type of work sample (documents are uploaded media) and follow the prompts.
  6. Click Save or Done.

In the mobile app

  1. Tap your profile photo, then View profile.
  2. Tap Add section.
  3. Tap Recommended and select Add featured.
  4. Select the type of work sample you want to feature.
  5. Tap Save or Done.

People who view your profile can download the file. (source 1) LinkedIn says a resume posted on your profile is visible to anyone viewing your profile and may be visible off LinkedIn. (source 4) Our suggestion: leave your phone number and home address off the copy you feature.

How do you update or replace your resume on LinkedIn?

Upload the new file, then delete the old one. The Help Center pages we read don't describe a "replace" button.

  • Saved resumes: upload the new version in Job application settings. LinkedIn keeps the four most recent uploads, so delete versions you don't want picked by mistake. (source 1)
  • Featured: on your profile, click the Edit icon on the Featured section, delete the old document, then add the new one. (source 9)
  • Applications you've already sent keep the resume you sent. Deleting a saved resume doesn't change them. (source 1)

How do you remove a resume from LinkedIn?

Use the ellipsis (…) menu next to the resume and select Delete. (source 1)

Saved resumes

  1. Go to Job application settings, or Jobs › Preferences › Resumes and application data.
  2. Click the ellipsis (…) to the right of the resume.
  3. Select Delete. Applications you have already submitted are not affected.

A resume in your Featured section

  1. Click the Me icon, then View profile.
  2. Scroll to Featured and click the Edit icon.
  3. Choose Remove from featured to take it off the section only, or Delete and confirm to delete it.
  4. Click Save or Done.

LinkedIn warns that once you remove a work sample from Featured, it can't be restored. (source 9) To stop LinkedIn saving your application resumes at all, opt out of saving job application data in your settings. (source 3)

Where is my resume on LinkedIn, and how do I download it?

A resume you sent with Easy Apply is in the Job tracker, and your profile can be saved as a PDF in resume format.

The resume you applied with

  1. Go to the Jobs homepage.
  2. Click Job tracker, then the Applied tab.
  3. Click the job application to open the job details page.
  4. Click Submitted resume. (source 11)

Your profile as a resume PDF (desktop only)

  1. Click the Me icon, then View profile.
  2. Click More or Resources in the introduction section.
  3. Select Save to PDF. (source 12)

Save to PDF works only when the profile and your LinkedIn language are English, and LinkedIn limits it to 200 downloads a month. (source 12) The pages we checked don't describe downloading a file from your saved-resumes list, so keep your own copy of the original.

Who can see your resume on LinkedIn?

It depends on where you put it: an application goes to that hirer, a Featured resume goes to your profile viewers.

  • A resume you apply with is shared with that hirer. (source 4) LinkedIn also includes your primary email and your full profile. (source 3) If a recruiting agency posted the job, it may share your application with its other clients when your profile matches their roles. (source 7)
  • Saved resumes are not automatically shared with employers. (source 3) LinkedIn uses them to recommend jobs and other content, in AI features that show how well you match a role, and, subject to your settings, to improve its AI models. You can opt out of the last one in your data-for-AI settings. (source 4)
  • Recruiter search: with the "Share resume data with recruiters" setting on, your profile can show up when recruiters search for skills and experience found in resumes you saved over the past two years. Recruiters don't get the full resume unless you give it to them, including by applying. After you apply, LinkedIn shows a prompt and the setting is turned on; you can turn it off in that prompt, in Job application settings, or under Jobs › Preferences › Resumes and application data. LinkedIn takes steps to hide this from recruiters at your current company but says it can't guarantee complete privacy. (source 5)
  • A Featured resume follows your profile visibility settings, isn't discoverable through search, and can only be viewed by people signed in to LinkedIn. (source 10)

Notes for job seekers in India

Two LinkedIn features work only in English, and many jobs send you to another site.

  • Save to PDF and resume sharing with recruiters are English-only. (source 12) (source 5) If your LinkedIn language is Hindi, Marathi or another language, switch it to English to use them.
  • On a job with an Apply button instead of Easy Apply, you upload to the employer's own site, so keep the PDF on your phone or laptop. (source 2) Naukri and company portals read files their own way; see our guide for Indian job portals.

Check the PDF before you upload it

LinkedIn takes a Word file or a PDF. Before you upload, run the PDF through our free check. It reads the file in your browser (nothing is uploaded) and shows whether your name, email, phone, section headings and dates can be found in the text. It's our own tool and it can't tell you how a particular employer's system will read the file.

Questions

Can I use the resume on my LinkedIn profile to apply for jobs?

No. LinkedIn says you won't be able to use a resume uploaded to your profile for job applications. Upload it in Job application settings or on the Easy Apply form instead.

How many resumes can LinkedIn save?

Four. LinkedIn stores your four most recently uploaded resumes and pre-selects the one you used most recently when you apply.

What file type should my resume be for LinkedIn?

Microsoft Word or PDF. LinkedIn recommends a file smaller than 2MB.

Can I change the resume after I apply?

No. LinkedIn says you can't reopen a submitted application to attach a resume, and you can't edit or withdraw it. If the job poster gave contact details, you can send your resume to them in an InMail message.

Can recruiters see my saved resumes?

Not the file itself unless you give it to them, for example by applying. If the "Share resume data with recruiters" setting is on, your profile can appear in recruiter searches that match your saved resumes. You can turn that setting off.

Where can I find the resume I sent with an application?

For Easy Apply applications: Jobs, then Job tracker, then the Applied tab. Open the job and click Submitted resume.
