Best Canva Resume Alternatives (2026), Compared
Canva has thousands of resume designs and a capable free plan. But it is a general design tool: its resume pages make no claims about applicant tracking systems, premium templates need a paid plan, and there is no job-description matching. If your resume goes through online applications, these alternatives are built for that.
What is the best Canva Resume alternative?
Resumity (our product) if your resume will be read by an ATS: single-column templates, a free check that shows what text software reads from your PDF, job-matched edits you approve, and PDF and Word export with no watermark. For design freedom with cleaner output, FlowCV; for free editable files, Google Docs or Word templates.

How did we pick these tools?
We read each vendor’s pricing, FAQ and help pages and applied the same questions to every tool, Resumity included:
- What the free plan really includes. How many resumes, AI uses and downloads you get, which formats, whether there is a watermark, and whether the plan expires.
- Price and renewal terms. The cheapest paid option as the vendor lists it, and whether a short trial renews automatically at a higher price.
- Files that ATS software can read. Single-column layouts with real text, exported as PDF or DOCX.
- Tailoring to a job. Whether the tool compares your resume with a job description and helps you close real gaps.
- Why you are leaving. Each list is ordered for the usual reasons people leave the tool the page is about.
Because Resumity is our product, weigh our ranking accordingly and confirm prices on each site before you pay. We do not take payment from the tools listed here, and none of these links are affiliate links.
Questions
Are Canva resumes ATS-friendly?
Canva’s resume page makes no claim either way. Designs with columns, graphics or text boxes can be read out of order by some parsers, so run your exported PDF through a free ATS check to see what text comes out before applying online.
What is a free alternative to Canva for resumes?
Resumity, FlowCV, Reactive Resume, Google Docs and Microsoft Word templates are all free to use and export PDF; Resumity, Reactive Resume, Google Docs and Word also give you a Word file.
Should I use Canva or a resume builder?
Use Canva when a person will look at the resume first, for example at a portfolio review or in print. Use a resume builder with a single-column template when applying through online portals that use an ATS.
Can I import a Canva resume into Resumity?
Yes. Export it from Canva as a PDF and import it after signing in (3 credits). The free check shows first whether the text in the PDF can be read.
