Dear [Hiring manager’s name],
I am applying for the Manager, Financial Reporting position. I qualified as a chartered accountant in 2021 and now run month-end close, Ind AS reporting and GST compliance for a consumer goods manufacturer with three entities and four state GST registrations.
Your advertisement mentions a faster close. By moving accruals and intercompany reconciliations to a daily checklist, we brought our close from working day 8 to working day 5. I prepare the quarterly Ind AS statements and notes for the audit committee, and the last two statutory audits closed with no adjustments to my schedules.
I also look for money left on the table. Reconciling input tax credit against GSTR-2B every month, I found and recovered ₹38 lakh of credit missed in earlier periods. Before moving into industry I led fieldwork on nine statutory audits at a CA firm, so I know what auditors will ask for and prepare it in advance.
I would like to bring this to your team as you move to a new ERP, which I read about in your annual report, and I would welcome a conversation about your close calendar.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours sincerely, Neha Agarwal
Adapt it to your own application
- Pick the two requirements in the ad you can prove best: close speed, audit, tax or systems.
- Name the forms and standards you actually work with, such as GSTR-3B, Form 3CD or Ind AS 115.
- CA freshers: write about articleship, including audit areas, industries and one problem you found.
- Do not disclose a current employer’s unpublished financials beyond a sense of scale.
