Resume template for Latvia: a Latvian CV within two pages
Short answer
Leslie suits a Latvian CV for customer-facing work: a profile, jobs from newest to oldest, skills and languages, education, then references. EURES and Riga Technical University's career workbook both cap the CV at two pages. EURES leaves the photo to you but notes that employers sometimes ask for one, usually for customer service jobs. The fictional sample is a contact centre team leader in Riga who works in four languages.

Why Leslie suits a Latvia resume
Leslie prints work experience straight after the profile and ahead of skills, so team size and service results are read first, and its labelled skill rows give languages a line of their own. The centred blue header is a single touch of colour, enough for a customer-facing role without turning the CV into a brochure.
Second choice: Henrietta. Henrietta shows skills in three unlabelled columns, a natural fit for the technical, organisational and communication groups RTU suggests, and prints education right after the jobs.
What goes in each section, in Leslie's order
Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. RTU's workbook describes the profile as a short account of your skills and experience, reviewed for every vacancy, and says it may mention the workload, start date or pay you are looking for. The sample ends with the kind of role and hours wanted.
- Work Experience. For each job RTU asks for the years, the employer's full name, your title and your main duties or achievements, and says a job unrelated to the vacancy can be left out. EURES adds a warning: employers must not be misled about your experience, so check every date and title.
- Skills. RTU suggests showing languages with a Europass-style level for each, or a plain rating such as intermediate or good. EURES says adequate Latvian is needed to find work in Latvia and that it is used in most workplaces, so Latvian comes first in the languages row.
- Education. Newest first, with the full name of the institution, the programme and the degree, as RTU sets out; if part of your study was abroad, name the country. RTU adds that once you hold a degree, primary and secondary school are not normally listed.
- References. RTU says a CV may end with a references section giving each person's name, job title, company and phone number, or with one sentence saying references will be provided on request. The sample names one former manager and offers more on request.

How to make the sample yours
Stop the address at the street
RTU suggests giving your city and street but not the flat number or postcode. The sample goes one step further and shows only the city, which is enough for an employer to judge your commute.
Add a photo only if it helps
EURES says including a photo is up to you, though some employers ask, usually for customer service jobs. RTU's checklist asks for a professional portrait on a light background. Resumity templates print no photo, so add it to the DOCX in Word when a vacancy asks.
Write in the language of the ad
RTU's final checklist asks that the CV and motivation letter be in the same language as the job advertisement. The sample is in English for an English-language posting; a Latvian posting needs a Latvian CV.
Keep your personal code private
LV portāls, the official legal information portal, noted in a 2013 explainer that the personal code (personas kods) need not appear on a CV and that a year of birth is enough if you give anything. The sample shows neither.
Know when Europass is the better fit
RTU describes the Europass CV as suited to international companies, internships in Europe and work in state institutions, and EURES links to model CVs on europass.lv. For a private Riga employer, a two-page CV like the sample is enough.
Prepare a cover letter for senior roles
EURES says Latvian employers often request a motivation or cover letter, especially for higher-level positions, and that it should be credible and convincing. Name the vacancy and one result that matches it.

Mistakes to avoid
- Stretching a job title or dates. EURES says applicants must not deceive employers about their work experience.
- Printing your flat number and postcode, which RTU suggests leaving off.
- An English CV for an advertisement written in Latvian; RTU's checklist asks for the language of the posting.
- A casual snapshot. If you add a photo, RTU asks for a professional portrait on a light background.
How the sample PDF reads in text extractors
We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a CV be in Latvia?
No more than two pages. EURES gives that limit, and RTU's checklist puts it as two pages, one sheet, with a motivation letter of one page at most.
Do Latvian employers expect a photo?
EURES says it is up to you, though some employers ask for one, usually for customer service jobs. RTU notes that a businesslike photo can be added. Resumity templates print no photo; add it in Word if a vacancy asks.
Do I need to speak Latvian to get a job in Latvia?
EURES says adequate knowledge of Latvian is necessary to find work, and that Latvian, the state language, is used in all state institutions and most workplaces. Give your level honestly in the languages row.
Should my personal code or date of birth go on the CV?
No legal act in Latvia sets CV requirements, according to a 2013 LV portāls explainer, which adds that the personal code need not be shown and a year of birth is enough. The sample includes neither.
How do I send a CV to a Latvian employer?
EURES says employers usually ask for the CV by email or for a phone call, and that seasonal or low-skilled jobs can often be applied for by phone. RTU suggests sending it as a PDF named after you.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 7 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
