Property manager resume template
Short answer
Leslie suits property managers: it prints experience before skills, so occupancy, net operating income and budgets lead, under a single blue accent. The fictional sample manages six office and retail buildings in Nashville for a third-party firm after starting as a property administrator, with renewals, on-time CAM reconciliations, a capital project under budget, lower delinquency and CPM coursework under way.

Why Leslie suits a property manager resume
Leslie prints work experience straight after the summary and before the skills rows, and owners hire property managers on what happened to occupancy, income and expenses. The centred blue header adds one touch of colour without distracting from the numbers an asset manager came to read.
Second choice: Henrietta. Henrietta is plain black and grey and prints education right after experience, a better match for asset management roles that screen on a finance degree.
What goes in each section, in Leslie's order
Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Name the property type (office, retail, industrial, multifamily, association), the portfolio size in buildings, square feet or units, and whether you work for an owner or a third-party manager. Then one line on what you are known for: leasing, cost control, capital projects or tenant relations.
- Work Experience. Use the numbers owners read every month: occupancy, tenant retention, net operating income against budget, rent collections and delinquency, operating expense savings, capital projects delivered. Property administrators can show accuracy and volume instead: leases abstracted, invoices processed, certificates of insurance tracked.
- Skills. Leslie prints labelled rows after the jobs. Technical takes budgeting, CAM reconciliations, lease administration and vendor management; Tools takes the property accounting system (Yardi, MRI, AppFolio) and the work order platform.
- Education. Business, finance or real estate degrees help in larger firms; one line is enough, and many managers rise from administrator or leasing roles without one.
- Certifications. IREM's Certified Property Manager asks for 36 months of qualifying experience, eight courses and a capstone made up of a management plan skills assessment and the CPM exam. Listing coursework in progress is fair, as long as you say how far you are.

How to make the sample yours
Match the property type
Commercial managers lead with NOI, CAM and tenant retention; multifamily managers with occupancy, leasing velocity, renewals and resident satisfaction; association managers with board relations and reserve studies. Reorder bullets so the first one answers the posting.
Turn the budget into results
Say how big the operating budget is, how you finished against it, and one saving you found: a rebid janitorial contract, an energy retrofit, a property tax appeal.
From administrator to manager
If you are moving up, list both titles under the same firm and keep the administrator bullets that show you already ran pieces of the job, such as reconciliations, vendor insurance and tenant requests.
Show capital project control
Roof replacements, lobby renovations, HVAC upgrades: give the cost, whether it finished on budget and how tenants were kept informed. Owners trust managers who protect income during construction.
Name the systems exactly
Yardi Voyager, MRI, AppFolio, Building Engines or Angus: write the product names you use. Firms on the same platform can put you to work quickly.

Frequently asked questions
What should a property administrator resume focus on?
Accuracy and volume: leases abstracted, invoices processed, certificates tracked, reconciliations prepared, tenant requests handled. Add anything you ran yourself, such as a vendor rebid or a move-in.
Which numbers matter most on a property manager resume?
Occupancy, tenant retention, NOI against budget, collections or delinquency, and expense savings. Give the portfolio and the time period for each so the reader can judge them.
How do I describe tenant relations without vague wording?
Give a measure and an example: renewal rate, average work order response time, a satisfaction survey score, or a tenant you kept through a difficult construction period. Specifics beat "excellent customer service".
How do I move from residential to commercial property management?
Stress budgets, vendor contracts, capital projects and lease administration, which carry over. Learn CAM reconciliations and commercial lease terms, and say so if you have handled them.
Should I list every property I have managed?
Group them: number of properties, type, total size and owner type. Name a property only when it is public and relevant, such as a well-known building in the area.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 5 section headings and all 8 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
