Strategy analyst resume template
Short answer
Pick Leslie for a strategy analyst. It prints experience ahead of skills, so the first thing read is the analysis you did and what was decided because of it, and its blue header is the only colour on an otherwise plain page. The fictional sample works in a hotel group's corporate strategy team after two years in investment banking: a market screen, a franchise conversion model and the quarterly competitor review.

Why Leslie suits a strategy analyst resume
A strategy analyst is hired on the decisions their analysis fed (markets chosen, deals modelled, board papers written), and Leslie prints work experience before skills to match. The centred blue header gives one restrained accent suited to a corporate team, while the body stays plain so dense bullets remain easy to read.
Second choice: Henrietta. Henrietta is all black and grey and prints education straight after experience, a good fit if your degree or school is a strong part of the case.
What goes in each section, in Leslie's order
Leslie prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Say where you sit (corporate strategy, strategy and planning, corporate development) and which decisions your work supports. If you came from banking or consulting, one clause on that tells the reader what kind of modelling to expect.
- Work Experience. Write each bullet as analysis plus the decision it informed: markets ranked and approved, a model that shaped a deal, a review the executive team reads. In-house strategy is judged on influence, so name the audience (board, CEO, business unit leaders) where you can.
- Skills. Methods first (market sizing, scenario modelling, competitive analysis), then tools. Leslie prints labelled rows with a dot after each label, which keeps methods and software on separate lines.
- Education. Degree, school and year, with a minor if it is relevant. Early in your career, add honours on the same line.

How to make the sample yours
Translate banking or consulting work into in-house terms
Bankers write "mandates" and consultants write "engagements". In a corporate strategy resume, describe the business question and your part in answering it.
Choose analyses close to the employer
A retailer cares about store networks and categories, a software company about segments and pricing. Rewrite the market screen bullet with your own example from a comparable setting.
Show the decision without claiming it
Analysts rarely decide, but their work feeds decisions. "The board approved the first three markets" credits the analysis without overclaiming.
Keep any recurring work for leaders
A competitor review or planning pack that goes to the executive team every quarter shows trust. Say how often it goes out and who reads it.
Describe data sources in general terms
Write "industry supply data" or "internal booking data" rather than paid database names your next employer may not license, unless the posting asks for a specific tool.
Keywords to keep where they are true
Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.

Mistakes to avoid
- Presenting yourself as the decision-maker on deals or market entries that executives owned.
- A modelling bullet with no business outcome; the model is the means, not the result.
- Pasting a full banking deal sheet. Pick a few relevant deals and describe your part.
- Confidential figures, deal names or unannounced plans from your current employer.

Frequently asked questions
How is a strategy analyst resume different from a consulting resume?
In-house, the reader wants one business understood deeply and analysis that influenced its leaders over time. Consulting resumes show many clients across short projects. Write for the one you are applying to.
Can I move into corporate strategy from finance or banking?
Yes, it is a common route. Keep the modelling, but add any work where you framed the question or recommended a course of action, not only built the numbers.
Should I list the deals I worked on as a banking analyst?
Summarise them by sector and type, and name a deal only if it was publicly announced and your former employer allows it. Two or three relevant examples are enough.
What skills should a strategy analyst list?
The analysis you can do on day one (market sizing, scenario models, competitor reviews) and the tools you do it in. Writing for executives deserves a line too, because it is much of the job.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Leslie PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 4 section headings and all 7 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
