Cloud computing resume template
Short answer
Catalyst is a strong pick for experienced cloud engineers, architects and consultants: it skips the summary and opens on the current job, where migrations, uptime and the monthly bill you manage make the case. The fictional sample spent six years running a credit union's data centre before moving to a managed service provider, where she leads AWS and Azure migrations, writes Terraform landing zones and runs cost reviews.

Why Catalyst suits a cloud computing resume
Catalyst prints no summary and goes from the header straight into work experience, which suits a cloud professional whose latest role (migrations led, accounts governed, spend reduced) is the whole argument. Skills follow as labelled rows, so providers and services still have a clear home, under teal headings set in IBM Plex Sans.
Second choice: FAANGPath. FAANGPath keeps a summary and prints the skills rows first; use it if you are still moving into cloud from systems administration.
What goes in each section, in Catalyst's order
Catalyst prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Work Experience. Catalyst opens on your latest job, so the headline carries what a summary would: level, the clouds you work in and your strongest certification. Then size the work: workloads or virtual machines moved, accounts or subscriptions governed, availability, and the monthly spend you answer for. Cloud employers want proof you ran things in production, not only that you built them once.
- Skills. Name providers with the services you actually configure in brackets, because "AWS" alone hides whether you know networking, identity or serverless. Practices (migration, landing zones, infrastructure as code, cost management) go in Technical; providers, Terraform and pipelines go in Tools.
- Education. A single line. Many cloud engineers come from systems administration or networking with an IT degree, a different degree or none; certifications and production work weigh more in this field.
- Certifications. These print at the bottom of a Catalyst page, so the one that matters goes in the headline too. Dates count: AWS says its certifications stay active for three years, and Microsoft role-based certifications are renewed every year through a free online assessment, so list only current ones.

Priya Raman
Senior Cloud Engineer, AWS and Azure (AWS Solutions Architect - Professional)
Columbus, OH | priya.raman@example.com | (614) 555-0176 | linkedin.com/in/sample-priya-raman | github.com/sample-priya-raman
Experience
Senior Cloud Engineer, Northgate Cloud Partners, Columbus, OH (03/2022 to Present)
- Lead migrations from on-premises VMware to AWS and Azure for mid-sized clients: 14 clients and about 600 virtual machines in three years, each with a tested rollback plan.
- Write client landing zones in Terraform, with account structure, networking, identity and logging set up the same way every time and reviewed through pull requests.
- Run monthly cost reviews with tagging and rightsizing reports; average client spend fell about 22% in the six months after migration.
- Map every client's controls to the shared responsibility model so contracts state which patches, backups and access reviews are ours.
- Serve as escalation on the 24/7 on-call rota and wrote the post-incident review template the team uses.
Systems Administrator, Buckeye Valley Credit Union, Dublin, OH (07/2016 to 02/2022)
- Ran 180 Windows Server and VMware virtual machines across two data centres, including patching, backups and twice-yearly recovery tests.
- Moved email and file shares to Microsoft 365, the credit union's first cloud project.
- Scripted user and server provisioning in PowerShell, which became the starting point for later infrastructure as code.
- Collected backup, patching and access review evidence for the annual IT examination.
Education
BS, Information Technology, Scioto Valley University (05/2016)
Certifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Amazon Web Services (2024)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft (2025)
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate, HashiCorp (2025)

How to make the sample yours
Size the estate you run
Accounts, subscriptions, workloads, monthly spend: give the numbers you can share, rounded if needed. Readers place your level from scale before anything else.
Show where responsibility splits
AWS describes its side of the shared responsibility model as security "of" the cloud and the customer's as security "in" the cloud. If you have written that split into a contract or runbook (patching, backups, encryption, access reviews), say so; it is central to regulated cloud work.
Write a cost bullet in FinOps terms
Tagging, rightsizing, commitment discounts and showback reports. The FinOps Foundation calls FinOps an operational framework and cultural practice that maximises the business value of technology, built on shared accountability across engineering, finance and the business, so say who you worked with.
Turn data-centre years into migration credibility
The sample's credit union job shows backups, recovery tests and scripted provisioning, which is exactly what a migration needs. Keep the on-premises bullets that prove operations discipline and drop routine ticket counts.
Lead with the provider in the posting
If the job is on Google Cloud, put any GCP work first, even a lab, and list the AWS or Azure equivalents you know. Concepts transfer between providers; service names do not.

Mistakes to avoid
- Writing a profile paragraph for this layout. Catalyst leaves it out, so "Senior Cloud Engineer, AWS and Azure" and your top certification belong in the headline.
- Listing lapsed certifications or practice exams as if they were current.
- "Cloud" as a skill with no provider, service or workload named.
- Claiming you designed an architecture that a platform team or vendor built. Say you deployed onto it or extended it.
How the sample PDF reads in text extractors
We exported this sample with Resumity's PDF exporter in Chrome on 2026-10-29 and read the file back with three open-source text extractors. This shows whether software that turns a PDF into text can recover it; it is not a test of any commercial applicant tracking system. How we test templates.
| Extractor | Name, email, phone | Headings | Bullets intact |
|---|---|---|---|
| pdf.js 4.10.38 | All found | 4 of 4 | 9 of 9 |
| pdftotext (Xpdf) 4.00 | All found | 4 of 4 | 9 of 9 |

Frequently asked questions
Which cloud certification should go first?
The one for the provider in the job posting, at the highest level you hold. One associate or professional certification for that provider in your headline does more than a long row of fundamentals badges.
How do I move from on-premises systems administration into cloud?
Choose one provider, earn its associate-level certification, and rebuild something you already run (a file server, a backup job, a small web app) in it with infrastructure as code. Then rewrite your sysadmin bullets around skills that carry over: backups, patching, recovery tests and scripting.
Should I list every AWS service I have touched?
No. Name the services you configured and ran, grouped by area (networking, identity, compute, data). A shorter list you can discuss for five minutes each beats an exhaustive one.
Do cloud employers care about cost experience?
Many do, because cloud spend shows up as a visible line in the budget. One bullet on tagging, rightsizing or a cost review, with a rough saving, shows you think about the bill as well as the build.
Is multi-cloud experience worth highlighting?
If you have run production workloads on two providers, yes, especially for consultancies and managed service providers. If the second cloud was a course, list it as training rather than experience.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Catalyst PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 4 section headings and all 9 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
