Dear [Hiring manager’s name],
I’m applying for the Senior Project Manager role leading ERP programmes. For five years I’ve led ERP and cloud projects for manufacturing and retail clients, most recently an S/4HANA rollout across three plants: fourteen months, 38 people from three vendors, and a go-live on the planned date.
Your posting stresses dependency and vendor management. On that rollout I kept one integrated plan of 420 tasks and 60 cross-vendor dependencies, and a RAID log reviewed every week; open high-severity risks older than 30 days went from eleven to two within a quarter. When the client added scope twice, we priced and dated each change before work started, which is how the go-live date held.
Not every project lands perfectly. Our data-centre-to-AWS migration finished three weeks late after we had to replace a vendor mid-way. We re-planned the remaining migration waves within a week and still closed 6% under budget. I would bring the same habit of reporting variance early and plainly.
I’m drawn to your company because your clients are mid-size manufacturers moving off legacy ERP, which is the work I know best. I’d welcome the chance to discuss how you run programme governance today.
Thank you for your time.
Regards, Sandeep Kulkarni
Adapt it to your own application
- Lead with the project closest to the job ad in domain, size or method.
- Include one variance story, told plainly, with what you did next.
- Agile delivery roles: replace budget talk with release cadence, sprint predictability and team health.
- Use your reader’s currency conventions, for example ₹ crore for Indian employers.
