Resume template for South Korea, under the fair hiring rules
Short answer
Daniel suits a Korean resume for design and product roles when the employer accepts a free format: profile, skills, jobs newest first, a project, education with GPA on its scale, and dated certificates. The Fair Hiring Procedure Act stops employers with 30 or more workers from demanding appearance, birthplace or family details. The fictional sample is a Seoul product designer at a digital bank.

Why Daniel suits a South Korea resume
Daniel sets each heading in a rounded grey pill and prints skills before jobs, a softer look suited to a designer whose tools and methods matter as much as job titles. It is single-column with no photo box, so nothing on the page asks for the appearance details that public-sector blind hiring removed.
Second choice: Olivia. Olivia puts the name in white on a full-width blue band, for designers or marketers who want the page to stand out on screen.
What goes in each section, in Daniel's order
Daniel prints its sections in a fixed order, the same in the PDF and the Word file. Here is that order for this sample, and what to put in each section.
- Professional Summary. Three lines on your field, years, the product you work on and the role you want. Work24, the labour ministry's job portal, asks that every part of the resume show job competence backed by objective evidence, so give a user count or a result rather than adjectives.
- Skills. Methods first, then tools, then languages with a test name, score and year. Work24 asks for the date on every language result so an employer can check it is still valid. Daniel shows the groups as unlabelled columns, so keep each group short.
- Work Experience. Newest first. For experienced applicants Work24 lists company name and main business, department, final title, dates, and main duties with results in numbers; note promotions or team moves separately. New graduates describe activities with dates, place, role and outcome instead.
- Projects. One project a design lead could open in your portfolio, with the result it produced. Daelim University's career portal asks for practical skills tied to the job and for numbers wherever results are described.
- Education. Most recent degree first, with year and month and your status (graduated, expected, completed). Give GPA with its scale: Work24 points out that universities grade out of 4.0 or 4.5. The sample's March-to-February dates follow the Korean academic year.
- Certifications. Job-related certificates, most recent first, each with name, date and issuing body, as Work24 and Daelim University both ask. Daniel prints them near the end; a licence the posting requires should also go in the summary.

How to make the sample yours
Use the company form when there is one
Daelim University's first tip is to check the format: adapt a free format to suit you, but never alter a form the company supplies. Work24 adds that more companies now use NCS-based application forms limited to job-related items. Keep this layout for free-format and English applications.
Leave out what the law bars employers from asking
The Fair Hiring Procedure Act forbids employers with 30 or more regular workers from demanding height, weight or appearance, birthplace, marital status, property, or your family's education, jobs and property when the job does not need them. Do not volunteer them either.
Decide about a photo per employer
Daelim University still advises a 3 x 4 cm photo taken within three months, in a suit. Under blind hiring, public institutions dropped birthplace, family, physical conditions and education from application forms in 2017. Resumity templates print no photo; if a private employer asks for one, insert it into the DOCX in Word.
Add the closing declaration if asked
Daelim University's traditional format ends with "the above is true", the date, your name and a signature or seal. Resumity templates print no signature, so add that line to the DOCX in Word when an employer expects it.
Write the Korean version yourself
For a Korean-language application, Daelim University suggests writing the name in Hangul, Hanja and English, and the birth date by the Western calendar. Work24 adds an emergency contact, a family member or friend who has agreed to answer an employer's call.
Keywords to keep where they are true
Terms this kind of resume is usually searched for. Use the posting's exact wording, and only for work you have done.
- product design
- UX research
- usability testing
- interaction design
- design system
- mobile banking
- onboarding
- payments
- Figma
- prototyping
- A/B testing
- accessibility
- TOEIC
Mistakes to avoid
- Volunteering height, weight, birthplace or parents' jobs; the Fair Hiring Procedure Act bars employers with 30 or more workers from demanding them, and they only distract.
- A TOEIC or OPIc score with no date, when Work24 asks for the date so validity can be checked.
- A GPA without its scale, since a 3.9 means different things out of 4.0 and 4.5.
- Rearranging a company's own application form, which Daelim University tells students never to do.
- Rounding results up or claiming a team's work as your own; the Act also forbids applicants from falsifying hiring documents.

Frequently asked questions
Do Korean employers still expect a photo on a resume?
Some do. Daelim University's career portal still advises a 3 x 4 cm photo taken within three months, while public institutions removed appearance-related items under blind hiring and the Fair Hiring Procedure Act bars larger employers from demanding appearance details the job does not need. Resumity templates print no photo; add one in Word only when asked.
Which personal details can an employer in Korea ask for?
For employers with 30 or more regular workers, the Fair Hiring Procedure Act rules out demanding your height, weight or appearance, birthplace, marital status and property, and your parents', children's and siblings' education, jobs and property, unless the job needs them. Work24 describes NCS-based forms that keep only the minimum needed to identify you.
Should I list military service on a Korean resume?
If you served, yes. Daelim University's guide places military service inside the education and history timeline in date order. On an English CV, a one-line entry with branch, dates and discharge status is enough.
How should I show TOEIC or other language scores?
Give the test, the score or level and the date you took it. Work24 asks for the date so that an employer can check whether the score is still valid, and lists the issuing body in its example.
Do I need to sign a Korean resume?
On traditional forms, often. Daelim University's guide ends with a statement that the contents are true, the date, your name and a signature or seal. Resumity templates print no signature; add the line to the DOCX in Word if the employer expects it.
Will applicant tracking systems read this Daniel PDF?
The sample PDF read back with its contact details, all 6 section headings and all 8 bullets intact in three open-source text extractors (pdf.js, pdftotext and pypdf). Commercial systems such as Workday, Greenhouse or Taleo were not tested, and each employer configures its own.
